II Peter 1:5-7

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness, and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

The Messiah

On a dark and lonely night
A Savior came to bring us light.
A bright star was showing the way
to where the tiny baby lay.

Animals in the barn where he stayed
were amazed by the babe that laid
wrapped in cloths in the manger.
This tiny babe's life was in danger.

King Herod was very afraid
and a proclamation was made.
The boys two and under you must kill,
but prophesy had to be fulfilled.

On the wonderful night long ago,
a Savior came so we would know
the love of our Father and His grace.
Some sweet day we'll see Him face to face.

Remember the Messiah every day.
Believe in Him now, without delay.
Sing praises as angels did at His birth,
when He came to live and die on earth.

All through the ages God had a plan,
from sin's grasp He must save every man.
It began with the babe in the hay.
Take this Savior to be yours today.

Lydia, The Woman Who Said Yes to God

She went to the river to pray.
Oh, what joy filled her heart that day!
An expert with cloth and purple dyes,
God heard and answered her heart's cries.

The Spirit sent Paul to Philipi.
He never questioned or asked why.
Paul went to find the place of prayer
so the gospel message he could share.

Lydia's response was from her heart.
Her faith in God grew from the start.
She invited Paul to her home.
From the God of grace she'd never roam.

Paul and Silas were thrown in jail.
They sang hymns, they didn't wail.
They went to visit Lydia again;
to encourage the women and men.

Woman at the Well, Thirsty Soul

Arriving at a town in Samaria
By Jacob's well,
Christ asked a woman for a
Drink of water.
Eyeing Him with distrust
Following years of being shunned,
Grudgingly she spoke to Him.
Hated because of her race and
Ignored by other women.
Jesus
Knew how this woman needed
Living water that He as the
Messiah could freely offer.
No one else seemed to care.
Only He could
Provide her with hope.
Questioning where her husband was, he
Revealed he knew about her life
Story and still loved her.
Thirsty soul considered
Unclean by the Jews, yet
Valued by Jesus.
Woman transformed from
Xenophobia and a sinful past,
Yearning for more out of life.
Zenith of her life happened at the well.

The Choice She Made

Sadly she is remembered for
the choice she made.
Not satisfied she wanted more,
she disobeyed.
A lovely garden was her home,
now from it she was made to roam.
If only she had thought and weighed,
the choice she made.

Her husband blamed her for his sin.
He was afraid.
Eve quickly passed the blame again.
Their shame displayed,
they sewed clothing out of fig leaves.
Because they sinned everyone grieves.
Now we know why the debt was paid.
The choice she made.
