Home Run

Sometimes life’s like a baseball game;

though it may not bring you fame.

Perhaps you’ve been thrown a curve ball

and your back’s up against a wall.

You long to run around each base,

but you have to walk, you can’t race.

In life you can’t stand to go slow.

You don’t want to stop, you must go.

Then there’s that moment you strike out,

all of your abilities you doubt.

No longer do you want to play,

on the bench is the place to stay.

Then you finally hit the mark

and the ball soars out of the park.

You feel this game of life you’ve won

when you hit your golden home run.

A Longing

Sweet Place

Sacred space

Can’t be replaced

Familiar faces

and cherished embraces

Memories galore are stored

within the walls, inside its doors

God’s placed a longing for home in us

Put on a Happy Face

Smile and put on your happy face.

Don’t you dare complain or grumble.

Positive thoughts you must embrace;

though in life you take a tumble.

At times on your face there’s a frown,

when heartache comes and you are sad.

But then you should turn it around.

Use your smile to make others glad.

A smile is great to give away.

When someone’s down it gives them cheer.

How many can you give today?

It can remove despair and drear.

A smile another’s life can touch

by making them their pain forget.

It really doesn’t cost you much,

but what a big return you get.

Recognize Your Blessings

Recognize each blessing God gives,

then name it to make it more real.

By these gifts you know your God lives;

then at mention of His name, kneel.

Let your mouth pour forth His praise

as gratitude flows in your heart.

Show Him honor all of your days

and never from His ways depart.

These blessings show your God is near.

He’ll never leave or forsake you.

So remember and never fear

all problems He will get you through.

I'm His Dad

His hand is small when held in mine.

I can’t believe he’ll soon be nine.

His eyes full of trust looked at me.

His loving dad I’ll always be.

I want to teach him right from wrong

and give him his very own song.

A song that’s just written for him

filling his young life to the brim.

To my son I will make this vow

to train him to live his best now.

By walking with him every day,

teaching him how to love and pray.

Our Journey

There’s a journey we all go through

A rendezvous

It will not wait

We can’t be late

There’s no one who can take our place

Thank God for grace

He’s by our side

Strength to provide

Our God is with us all the way

We’ll win this race

And see God’s face

He made clear His presence to me

The glorious sunrise reminds me of you

providing me with a heavenly view.

Your sacrifice of being slain

for our sins would have been in vain.

therefore I’ll sing with joy He reigns.

I hate the very thought of war

We need some peace

Let's Give Him Praise

When everything is going great

let's give Him praise.

He gives us cause to celebrate

our hands we'll raise.

We'll lift our eyes to see His grace;

someday in heaven see His face

.

Although the sunshine doesn't blaze,

let's give Him praise.

When bad health comes to devastate

we'll lift our gaze

.

Let's thank the LORD and meditate

on all His ways.

When trials in our life appear,

recall our God is always near.

In all His ways He does amaze,
