II Peter 1:5-7

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness, and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

Going Hme

When we were at Omaha with Franklin,
Tracy and their family we went out several
times driving to see the sights. Every time
we were barely gone from the house when
Garrison, who’s almost 3, started saying,
“When are we going home?” Home means a
lot to Garrison. I started reflecting on what
home means to me. I love going to visit my
family, friends, and new places, but I’m
always ready to go home.

For Christians this life on earth is temporary.
It’s just our temporary home. Heaven, that’s
really our home! When we think about God
and Jesus being in Heaven, do we ever think,
“When am I going home?” Isn’t that the place
we want all of our family and friends to be, too.
One place where we can all be together with
our Heavenly Father and our Savior. No place
can be better than that.

Sweet Time of Prayer

Sweet Time of Prayer
When sorrows come,
where must I run?
Sweet time of prayer,
you call me there.

When at His throne
I’m not alone.
He hears my plea
and comforts me.

When faith is weak,
it’s Him I seek.
Though fear assails,
my God prevails.

He Counts the Stars

My Father paints with lovely hues
of pink and blues
across the skies,
a golden prize.

His nature scenes are so sublime
that even time
and winds that blew
won’t change the view.

He counts the stars at end of day
and makes them play
a lover’s tune
neath smiling moon.

You Ran With Me

You Ran With Me

The race of life you ran with me.

You kept your steps in tune.

If e’er I stumbled you were there

To help me reach the goal.

Your love gave me courage,

when any trial came my way.

I knew you’d cheer me on.

A loyal friend you’ve been.

You’ve been my constant helper

A shining star to light my path.

We’ll cross the finish line because

The race of life you ran with me.

Tangerine Sky

His message in the sky said, “I love you”.
A tender written love note for my eyes
He painted with tangerine and yellow hue.
A splendid sunrise of divine surprise.
His presence made known in the sparkling dew
and the bounty of blessings He supplies.
My Savior died for me, He took the nails.
His fragrant off’ring showed how love prevails.

Forgiveness is the Key

To be forgiven, you must forgive.
Christ shows us, this is how we must live.
There will be bumps on the road of life,
when relationships are filled with strife.

Maybe someone has offended you.
They may not even have a clue.
Do you become bitter and hold a grudge
or the intentions of their heart judge?

Forgiveness in relationships the key
to restore peace which sets you free.
Free from a bitter and weary heart,
grace to another soul to impart.

Christ is our example to follow.
In self-pity don't ever wallow.
Pass on the precious gift of grace
as forgiveness and love you embrace.

New Life

Lacey blossoms of pure snow white
bring abundant joy and delight.
In this white against leaves of green,
God's handwork is clearly seen.

Season of Spring, a refreshing time,
when my spirits begin to soar and climb.
God shows me His amazing love
by the beauty around me and above.

I love the bright, bold colors of Spring.
My heart wants to praise God and sing.
I'm thankful for this season of year.
It helps make His message crystal clear.

Jesus died, then He arose from the tomb.
Flowers remind me of this when they bloom.
I have new life because of God's Son.
The victory over sin has been won.

Thank Him Today

What do you think of the weather today?
Do you grumble and complain?
If the day is hot and sunny
do you say, "Why doesn't it rain?"

If you're eating cornbread and beans,
do you whine, "I wish I had steak."
Are you being so ungrateful your
thoughtless words make God's heart break?

Don't dare be a grumbler today!
Lift up your eyes and look around.
Do you see what God has done for you?
Look how your life with blessings abound.

Get on your knees right this minute.
Name all the gifts He's given you.
Tell Him thank you for every one,
even the rising sun and the morning dew.

Praise Him for the gift of abundant life,
for the sacrifice of His Son, His one and only,
for the people He's surrounded you with.
With God by your side you'll never be lonely.

Now you're finally getting the true picture.
Watch for those blessings every day.
You'll see how rich your life really is.
Praise and thank Him by the words you say.

Valleys and Mountaintops

My LORD and Savior is with me
each and every day.
Through all of life's seasons,
He hears me when I pray.

He's with me in the valley of weeping
when I'm in the depths of despair.
He's with me on the mountaintop of joy.
I can always see His tender care.

He knows just how to comfort me
through times of sorrow and grief,
bringing peace to my heavy heart,
granting me gracious relief.

During difficult times He never leaves.
He will always be right by my side
loving me and holding me close.
With Him I always will reside.

A Longing for Home

Thinking of home makes
my heart beat joyously.
The very word on my lips
tastes deliciously sweet.

A picture is created
of a magnificent place
where love and devotion
are evident on each face.

There's a longing in my heart
to return to that special abode
where cares and troubles
shared make an easier load.

We all love our families
and our home here on earth,
but what about heaven
with its joy and mirth.

Heaven is on my mind now,
I'll see my Savior before long.
He'll welcome me home saying,
"This is where you belong".

Waiting

Waiting is never easy for us. Remember when
you were a kid waiting for Christmas. That
time between Thanksgiving and Christmas
seems to go soooo slow. It's hard waiting
for that special gift, but remember how
wonderful it was when you finally did
receive it.

We wait all our lives for good gifts:
birthdays, graduations, that special person
to marry, our children to be born, a house
to buy, grandchildren. Wait, wait, wait,
but oh what blessings come when we wait.

God has many gifts for us, but sometimes He
asks us to wait. When you finally receive
that special gift, how very sweet it is.

Giver of All Good Gifts

I enjoy giving those I love a treat of
some kind or taking them special places.
I want them to know how very much they
mean to me.

God enjoys giving me special blessings
because He loves me and because He can.
He showered my life with: loving parents,
a faithful husband, 3 fantastic children,
2 amazing daughter-in-laws, 5 darling
grandchildren, special friends everywhere
we have lived, a precious church family,
and my treasured work family.

God loves to bless my life, to give me
those sweet and precious gifts that make
each day memorable. He doesn't have to,
but He wants to.

My life consists of many special people
and memories that I cherish. Every
person God has placed in my life has
left an imprint on my heart.

I don't deserve all these marvelous gifts
from His hand, but I'm so thankful He has
given them to me and it thrills Him to
give me what He knows I need. How about
you? What's He given you? Take joy in
His amazing gifts today!!!

Open the Door of Your Heart

God sees you, His child, as you stand far away.
He cries as He knows you have wandered astray.
Where is His sweet and precious little lamb,
Wonders the marvelous awesome I Am?

For you He continues to shed many a tear,
Wanting to hold you close and draw you near.
Gone are the days when you called on His name.
Whatever happened and who is to blame.

He sheds blessings on you every day.
Remember how your debt He did pay.
He loves you beyond all measure.
Why won’t you make Him your treasure?

He gently whispers in your ear o’er and o’er.
You turn your back on the one you should adore.
Don’t you realize how much He loves you?
Won’t you come back to Him and your love renew?

He’s still standing there knocking at the door.
He wants you to live with Him forevermore.
Open the door of your heart while you still can.
You’ll see for your life He has a wonderful plan.

Who's Following You?

What kind of example will you be?
Someone is watching, what will they see?
They see what you do and hear what you say.
Where will you lead them on the pathway today?

Is it your children who see every step you take;
or maybe it's the friends in life that you make.
Do they hear you talk of Jesus, God's son,
but in your actions you mistreat everyone?

What kind of example do you want to be?
Someone is watching you, what will they see?
Show by example from God never to roam.
Lead and welcome them to a heavenly home.

Silver Thread of Love

Love binds us together like a silver thread,
Weaving a message by thoughtful words now said.
It gives off a golden luminescent light,
Joyously transcending us to a new height.

Love is more valuable than any gem on earth.
Who can measure the abundance of its worth.
Its fragrance more potent than any flower,
Transforming our very lives by its power.

Love, like a key opens treasures of the heart,
Freeing the soul to share as it imparts
Kindly actions to its cherished ones so dear;
Whispering the words a loved one wants to hear.

Tell Them, Don't Wait!

Tell them how you love them before
It is too late.
Do it right this very minute,
Don’t you dare wait!

Tell when they were little and sick
You held them tight.
You rocked and sang sweet songs to them,
Couldn’t sleep that night.

Tell them about their first day of school,
The tears you shed.
How that night when you tucked them in,
You kissed their head.

Tell them of all the times you prayed
Down on your knees,
When they were out with friends.
“Keep them safe, please!”

Tell them when they married you were
Proud as could be.
Then how a precious grandchild filled
Your heart with glee.

Tell how each achievement is
Stored in your heart,
Of the deep sadness which you feel
When you’re apart.

Go ahead, tell them you love them,
Before it’s too late.
Do it right this very minute,
Don’t you dare wait!

Nuggets of Blessings

I will carry my treasures
with me into the new year.
The ones God blessed me with
I will always hold these near.

My treasure chest isn't filled with gold
but with memories, some long ago.
Faces line the treasure chest:
family and friends, but no foe.

The heartaches of this year I'll forget
as I bid them all adieu,
but the treasure of your sweet smile
will be kept forever in my view.

The Messiah

On a dark and lonely night
A Savior came to bring us light.
A bright star was showing the way
to where the tiny baby lay.

Animals in the barn where he stayed
were amazed by the babe that laid
wrapped in cloths in the manger.
This tiny babe's life was in danger.

King Herod was very afraid
and a proclamation was made.
The boys two and under you must kill,
but prophesy had to be fulfilled.

On the wonderful night long ago,
a Savior came so we would know
the love of our Father and His grace.
Some sweet day we'll see Him face to face.

Remember the Messiah every day.
Believe in Him now, without delay.
Sing praises as angels did at His birth,
when He came to live and die on earth.

All through the ages God had a plan,
from sin's grasp He must save every man.
It began with the babe in the hay.
Take this Savior to be yours today.

Lydia, The Woman Who Said Yes to God

She went to the river to pray.
Oh, what joy filled her heart that day!
An expert with cloth and purple dyes,
God heard and answered her heart's cries.

The Spirit sent Paul to Philipi.
He never questioned or asked why.
Paul went to find the place of prayer
so the gospel message he could share.

Lydia's response was from her heart.
Her faith in God grew from the start.
She invited Paul to her home.
From the God of grace she'd never roam.

Paul and Silas were thrown in jail.
They sang hymns, they didn't wail.
They went to visit Lydia again;
to encourage the women and men.

Woman at the Well, Thirsty Soul

Arriving at a town in Samaria
By Jacob's well,
Christ asked a woman for a
Drink of water.
Eyeing Him with distrust
Following years of being shunned,
Grudgingly she spoke to Him.
Hated because of her race and
Ignored by other women.
Jesus
Knew how this woman needed
Living water that He as the
Messiah could freely offer.
No one else seemed to care.
Only He could
Provide her with hope.
Questioning where her husband was, he
Revealed he knew about her life
Story and still loved her.
Thirsty soul considered
Unclean by the Jews, yet
Valued by Jesus.
Woman transformed from
Xenophobia and a sinful past,
Yearning for more out of life.
Zenith of her life happened at the well.

The Choice She Made

Sadly she is remembered for
the choice she made.
Not satisfied she wanted more,
she disobeyed.
A lovely garden was her home,
now from it she was made to roam.
If only she had thought and weighed,
the choice she made.

Her husband blamed her for his sin.
He was afraid.
Eve quickly passed the blame again.
Their shame displayed,
they sewed clothing out of fig leaves.
Because they sinned everyone grieves.
Now we know why the debt was paid.
The choice she made.

You're My Treasure

I treasure each of your smiles and hugs
you're the ones I yearn to be with
my heart aches when you're away
wish you were here to stay
memories linger
here in my heart
forever
you'll be
mine

ABC's of Life

A person's life is filled with
Bountiful gifts from a loving
Creator who smiles
Down from above
Ever thinking of our needs.
Family is a treasured
Gift flowing from
His hand to us.
Interested in our lives,
Jesus wants to be
King of our hearts.
Love flows freely as
Mercy is extended to us.
Never does He forsake us
Over the years of our life.
Pray and praising Him with a
Quiet time each day
Recognizing our need of this
Savior and His sacrifice.
Trusting His plans
Until He calls us home.
Valuing our relationship
With our Redeemer and friend who
X'ed out our sins, we
Yearn to spread the news
Zero sins held against us

Pictures Line the Walls of My Heart

Pictures of family so dear
keeps them so near
brings my heart cheer
sometimes a tear

Family, my most precious prize
doubled in size
sweet to my eyes
don't like goodbyes

Memories stirred within my breast
a precious guest
God, I'm so blest
love stands the test

Exuberant Praise

Worthy of exuberant praise
Your name I will lift up and raise.
Father, I don't want to be shy
when I should shout and magnify.

Emotions may cause me to weep,
but I'd much rather jump and leap.
My joy is finally complete
as the old story I repeat.

Lift me up to the highest height
Oh Thou my soul's redeeming light.
May I give the praise You deserve
and do it with unrestrained verve.

He's My Friend

When I felt discouraged today,
you sent a special friend my way.
She had the perfect words to say
to brighten my dark blue day.

When I wonder if you are near
suddenly you make it so clear.
I see an amazing new sight,
an unusual bird in flight.

When prayers answers come so slow,
you lovingly let me know
by special blessings you send
my broken heart you will mend.

Looking at my life's history
it is surely no mystery.
You have always been there
showing me a love so rare.

Share the Cross

Jesus died so people could win
victory over guilt and sin
and finally have peace within.

When they realize Christ loves them they can spread it around
telling of the wonderful love and forgiveness they found,
singing and praising Him for precious blessings that abound.

Talk to God each day in prayer
sorrows and joys with Him share
know He will always be there.

Read God's love letter
to us His debtors.
He'll make us better.

Trust in Him today
the Bible obey.
In His hands be clay.

This is supposed to be a shape poem in the shape of a cross.

The Small Moments

It's the small moments in life I treasure,
daily ones most don't give a second thought.
To me, their worth is far beyond measure,
not enough silver or gold to be bought.

It's the smiles of precious friends so dear,
a pat or touch of comfort when I grieve,
a friend who sympathizes with a tear,
words of encouragement I receive.

It's arms lifted high by a grandchild,
giggles and hugs so tight they squeeze,
strange hairdos on me which they've styled,
requests of "read me a story, please!".

It's a sunrise of glorious hue,
Birds trilling an early morning song,
tiny diamond drops of glistening dew,
sniffing honeysuckle, it's fragrance strong.

Husband's faithful love throughout the years,
lives intertwined with joy and sorrow,
thoughts of heaven as winter time nears,
looking forward to what comes tomorrow.

The Tattered Pages

The pages lay on the table
where she left them last night.
Love written there was no fable.
It filled her heart with delight.

Her fingers touched the golden edge
of the papers tattered and worn.
Years ago she made a pledge
to read these pages every morn.

Her love for Him grew each day.
What a sacrifice He'd made.
She knew she'd never stray.
Every day she read and prayed.

She grew closer to her Lord
and would serve Him all her days.
This was the Savior she adored.
Her heart overflowed with His praise.

She lived by the words on its pages.
When she died it was laying by her side.
It had sustained her through all ages.
Now with Her Lord she would abide.

Moonlight's Dance

Moonlight on the water does its dance
Fills the night with wonder and romance.
Stars add to the beauty of the scene
Giving me a feeling so serene.

Soft music of the night
Nature's wonder and delight.
Cicadas join in a song
Calling others to sing along.

God created all I hear and see
All the wonders around me.
I'll praise God when I wake
For these moments at the lake.

He is My Strength

Through life's many trials strengthen me
Answer my plea
Walk by my side
With me abide.

Give me strength to face each new day
And never stray,
Make you my choice
Obey your voice.

I need strength only you provide
LORD, be my guide
Through darknest night
Please be my light.

My Life is in His Hands

As I look back over my life history.

What has happened is no mystery.

The places I never thought I'd go,

People I never expected to know,

Challenges overcame that helped me grow,

Things I've accomplished because of you,

That I never even dreamed I could do,

Trials that brought me to my knees,

Drew me even closer and closer to thee.

I will follow you all of my days,

Lift your name up in praise.

You've given my joy without measure.

All my blessings I will treasure.

From you I never want to roam.

Can't wait to see you in that heavenly home.

Praise Him in the Valley

Praise God when you're in the valley
and you are feeling blue.
Thank Him for the deliverance
cause He will see you through.

Thank Him in every season,
even when you grieve.
He will comfort you
never will He leave.

When life's trials come,
thank Him for each one.
Praise Him for the victory
He's given through His Son.

Praise Him every day,
whether sunshine or sorrow.
Thank Him at the close of day
for whatever comes tomorrow.

Choose to praise and worship,
not complain or whine.
Bring glory to His name
and your light will surely shine.

A Grateful Heart

Grant me a loving grateful heart
to daily honor you with my praise,
eyes to see all thy hand imparts
words to express the splendor of thy ways

As a little child help me see
blessings like a frog or toad,
marvel at a flower, a honey bee,
or the smell of a field freshly mowed.

Open my eyes to see even trials
as moments of growing closer to thee,
to hold as blessings all the smiles
of those nearest and dearest to me.

Father, I know I don't deserve
abundant blessings from thy hand,
but I will vow to always serve
and live my life as you command.

Help me acknowledge all you give
the grace, mercy and love you supply.
May gratitude be expressed in how I live.
Your name be glorified even when I die.

Your Devoted Servant I Remain

LORD over all creation,
I bow in adoration.
My lips are filled with praise.
I'll speak of you all my days.

You are the Savior who died,
for my sins was crucified.
You are the one I serve.
Your grace I don't deserve.

You are the mighty King.
A sacrifice to you I bring.
Over my heart please reign.
Your devoted servant I remain.

Dry Seasons

Dry Seasons come into my heart
choking out the zeal within.
Dry Seasons, please depart.
LORD, cleanse me of my sin.

Refresh my spirit again
with your presence renew my soul.
Let me feel victorious within
Over my life take full control.

Dry Seasons leave me forever.
Green Growing Seasons return.
Worldliness and its ties sever.
Father for you let my heart yearn.

Let my need for you be as great
as my need for water or air.
On your Word may I meditate.
My lips forever your praise declare.

Then the dry Seasons will be gone
replaced by a new life with you.
A beautiful day will dawn
with a wonderful heavenly view.

Friendship's Declaration

Lilac and Red Rose
Compare them not to one another
Each possesses a fragrance their own
Different, but oh how delightful.

Beautiful to behold
Radiant, they stand together
Basking in the warmth of the sun
Sharing early morning dew.

Vanishing for a season
Together again at Spring's return.
Blooms forever entwined together
Exulting in friendship's declaration.

Can't You See Me

Do you feel my comfort in the cool breeze
or my strength in a mighty oak tree?
Do you think of my power when you
see my creation
or my compassion when you notice
a weeping willow tree?
Do you see my love in the face
of a sweet child?
Look at their smile do you see me?
Are you reminded of my salvation
when you see a red rose?
Do you think of the blood my son
shed on the cross at Calvary?

You're always asking to see my presence.

Look around. Do you see me? I'm all around you.
You can see me in all my creation.

Anticipating the Journey

A journey of a lifetime begins.
Can you feel the excitement?
Is your pulse starting to race?
Imagine seeing His face.

Begin a new chapter as you
take that step into the unknown.
You know who is waiting.
Start the anticipating.

Sharing precious moments with Him.
Oh, the joy within your heart.
Be still before the Lord,
and you'll feel restored.

What will happen in life today,
whether trials or blessings.
It won't matter with Him by our side.
On this journey He'll be our guide.

and your great power.
You are my soul's refuge,
my safe tower.

I am so very blessed,
I never want to whine.
You do so much for me,
I want my light to shine.

I want my life to show
how awesome are your deeds,
you care for me and provide
all of my needs.

Because of all you do
victory is mine.
You are the mighty one
for whom I pine.

Quiet Moments With You

What a blessing
each lovely morn.
Time alone with you
and I feel reborn.

When you and I meet
my soul feels at peace.
You provide for my needs,
all my worries cease.

Thank you for quiet moments
when it's just you and me.
Praise abounds for your grace
and the blood that set me free.

Once I was without hope
with no thoughts of a Savior.
Now I have eternal life
because of your loving favor.

I will treasure our time together
each new day when I arise.
Look forward to the day
I will have my heavenly prize.

To Be Loved By A Child

Oh, the hugs
the squeels of delight
the tender embrace
the kiss goodnight.

The love of a precious child
is greater than any treasure.
It's so fantastic
It's impossible to measure.

My heart does little flip-flops
when a child reaches for me.
God, thank you for this child
that sits upon my knee.

You're a Hero in Their Eyes

Precious little children
Moldable like clay
Watching all you do
Listening to what you say.

They think you do no wrong.
Don’t ever lead them astray.
You’re a hero in their eyes.
Lead them on the narrow way.

Tell them about Jesus
How He loves everyone.
Tell about all He created
The flowers, trees, and sun.

Show them to be kind.
Teach them how to pray.
Remember you’re their hero
So be a good example today.

Home at Last

Beautiful gates of heaven
Open wide.
Golden streets in that city
Where I’ll reside.

A mansion’s prepared for me
A special place.
No more crying
My tears God will erase.

Being with God
Will make my joy complete.
I’ll sing praises to Him
And fall at His feet.

Flowing by His throne
Is a crystal sea.
Home at last with
my Father I’ll be.

The Grandmother's Joy

The sound of little feet coming down the hall was a
delight to the Grandmother’s heart. She couldn’t wait to
see her grandson turn the corner. There he was with that
sweet grin. Her heart did little flip-flops.
What was it about grandchildren that was so special?
All grandmothers loved to talk about their grandchildren and
show pictures. She was no exception.
Everyone of her grans were precious to her and now
God was blessing her with two more. Her heart overflowed
with joy at the thought.
No matter how many grandchildren she had, she knew
there was plenty of love for each one. Each child was special
and she prayed for them. She wanted them to grow up
knowing how very much God loved them. Someday she
hoped they would all be in heaven together.
She had special memories with each child. Fischer
remembered the cookies they had made and decorated at
Christmas. Esther liked it when they played harmonicas
together. Garrison knew Grandma would be up early in the
morning to greet him.
Fischer and Esther enjoyed feeding the fish in
Grandma’s aquarium.
The grandmother treasured all the cute things her
Grandchildren said and did. Fischer called her one day
and then told his mother, “I called the Grandma with the
fishes.”
She loved listening over and over to the video of
Esther singing her ABC’s.
She loved it when her son, Franklin, called and
sang Twinkle, twinkle little star and stopped every few
words and let Garrison fill in the blanks. He sang each
word loud and clear. It was so cute.
She wondered what kind of memories there
would be when her two new grandchildren would be
born.
All grandmothers should make special memories
with their grandchildren. Maybe she felt this way even
more because she never knew her grandmothers.
The grandmother hoped her grandchildren would
be able to remember fun times that they had shared
and to know how much their grandmother loved them.
She would make sure each moment with them was
filled with laughter and good times.

Martha Choose What's Best

Martha hurried and scurried
About all the details she worried.
The meal must be perfect she thought
While Mary listened as Jesus taught.

Martha asked Jesus a question.
“Can you give Mary a suggestion.
Please tell her to help me with the guests.
I’ve worked until I’m feeling stressed.”

“Martha, Martha, don’t worry and fret
Or live a life filled with regret.
Mary has chosen the better part
To listen and give me her heart.”

He wanted Martha to learn
Her heart for God must yearn.
She should be still and wait
And on His word meditate.

I can Worship

I can Worship

I will sing and pray
Worship God today
He made the earth and sky
And the beautiful butterfly.

With His mighty power
He made the rain showers
The booming of thunder
Fills my heart with wonder.

I thank Him for food to eat,
Fruit, vegetables and meat.
Thank Him for our family
Mom, Dad, sister, brother and me.

Remember how Jesus died
On the cross He was crucified.
His body represented by the bread
Fruit of the vine reminds me that He bled.

We give money with a cheerful heart
To help others by doing our part.
We send people to foreign lands
To tell of God’s wonderful plans.

I love to read the B-i-b-l-e
It tells that Jesus loves me.
I will learn to trust and obey
Walk with Him every day.

A Look Back

Take a look at your life. What were you like
as a teenager and what are you like now? How
has God worked in your life? Isn't it amazing
that He can take our weaknesses and use them
for His glory.

Are you doing things in your life now that
you never expected to?

I was an "extremely shy" teenager. I blushed
when someone even looked at me. I hated standing
in front of people at school and giving book
reports or even answering questions from teachers.

But God gave me some amazing friends and new
opportunities for growth. Those friends encouraged
me to be a cub scout den mother, a missionary in
Zambia, a teacher at the prison, and a writer
of poetry. (ok, I'll never be an Emily Dickinson
or other famous poet)

Now look back over your own life and share your
experiences. Where has God brought you from.

Now, am I an extravert now? NO!!! But He has
helped me grow a lot. What an awesome God we
serve!!

Sharing More Prayer Experiences

Many of you may already know about this answered
prayer, but thought I'd share. Also, have a couple
of others to share with you. Feel free to share
yours and we can encourage one another.

Before going to Africa I was petrified. The thought
of moving so far from family and friends and going
to a place I didn't know anyone was frightening.
Each evening at supper I would feel so sick from
worry that I couldn't eat. That's very unusual
for me.

I told Fred, my husband, that I just didn't think
I could go. He told me that was ok, but he felt
that it was what God wanted him to do. So I prayed.
It was kind of a Gideon throwing out the fleece.
God, if this is what you want, then help me get
over this feeling of fear. I think we were actually
on our way to Zambia when I realized God had answered
my prayer. It's amazing. I think I had one episode of
feeling lonely after arriving. God's answers can be
so powerful.

I would not trade my experience of living in Zambia
for anything. The people were amazing and taught me
so much about love, faith and hospitality. I went
to teach them, but I think I received even more
than I gave.Yes, I missed my family, but people
there became my family. I wish I could see them
again.

I'll share some more answered prayers later. Please
share yours. We can strengthen each other.

Looking Back on God's Answers

Can't go to sleep tonight so I was thinking back
about God's answers to prayers about my own job
hunting experience.

When we returned from Africa it was difficult for
Fred and I to find jobs. I hadn't had a phone in
my house to answer for 5 years. I felt like a
stranger here.

My first job was a job during the holidays at an
Anthony's Department store. Fred and I both got a
job there thanks to a member at Westwood. I felt so
helpless and foolish. My next job was a temporary
job for the post office. It was at night. It was
hard going to work when my family was getting ready
to go to bed.

Then God blessed me with a job at Landmark books
with Norma. What a wonderful sister-in-Christ and
great friend.

Then God blessed me with a job at Alva Roofing where
I now work. Another blessing working with more
Christians and working part-time.

Isn't it amazing the way God works things out! It's
not always all at once. Look back in your own life.
How has God worked? I'd really like to hear your
stories.

In the Old Testament they passed down the stories
about God's mighty deeds. They had different ways to
remember what He did. Don't we also need to keep
remembering our past and where God has brought us.
I know I do. Sometimes I forget. I get scared and
wonder how He's going to work out problems in my life
or in my loved one's life. I need to constantly look
back at God's mighty deeds in my own life. This is
just one small look at how God worked in my life.
I wanted to share it so you'd look back, too. Let's
remind one another over and over of how God works in
our lives.

And God, Thank you!!!!

Where Do I Run

Where do I run when I can’t see;
When the darkness surrounds me
When I’m alone and afraid
Who will come to my aid?

No one cares what I’m go through
They all have problems, too.
Who can I run to, who will care?
I need an answer to my prayer.

I’ve cried out to every friend,
Now I’m at my wit’s end.
No one has time to hear.
They all just disappear.

Then I hear a quiet voice,
“Be still, make me your choice.”
He brings peace to my heart
And He’ll never depart.

“Child, my heart is aching
When I see yours breaking.
I’ve been here waiting
Standing and anticipating”

“Waiting to feel you in my arms,
to keep you safe from all harms.
I love you, but don't you know
that I’m not your foe?”

“When you’re weary or sad
Feeling hurt or just mad;
Come to me and share.
I’ll lift you from despair.”

Whenever I go away or roam
He begs me “ come back home.”
Where do I run when I can’t see?
I run to my Father who loves me.

Joyful Celebration

God, you are my inspiration,
My rock, my solid foundation.
Your word is my meditation
So I’ll overcome temptation.

I find beauty in your creation.
It brings joy and elation.
Your works evoke adoration,
jubilation and fascination.

My heart answered your invitation
To change my eternal destination.
Jesus died so I could have salvation.
Every day is filled with celebration.

Because He Loves Us

Because He loves us
God put in motion a plan.
He wanted to save
Every woman and man.

Because He loves us
He sacrificed His Son;
His beloved one and only.
A victory over sin was won.

Because He loves us
He longs to hear our voice.
We can pour out our hearts;
Spend time with Him and rejoice.

Because He loves us
He bestows mercy o’er and o’er.
What an amazing Father,
One I love and adore.

Because He loves us
He will wait and wait.
He’ll be filled with joy
To see us at Heaven’s gate.

A Long, Long Journey

I’m on a long, long journey
traveling down a dusty road;
at times I get so weary
carrying this heavy load.

Then I see a man ahead,
reaching out a nail scarred hand.
He tells me of His love for me
and speaks of a heavenly land.

He touches my shoulder,
then I am filled with peace.
He assures me one day
my cares and sorrows will cease.

He’s the precious Lamb of God
whose blood cleansed and set me free.
Never will I be all alone,
together we’ll always be.

The road seems shorter now.
My journey soon will end.
Waiting for me with open arms
will be my Savior and my friend.

Running

Running from you LORD,
Oh please help me.
Running back to you Jesus,
your blood will set me free.

I can’t fix myself,
Can’t do it on my own.
I need your love and grace.
Only you can atone.

Why do I seek help
From any other place;
I’ll run back to you
and seek your face.

Where else can I go,
There’s no where else to run.
No one else loves me like you
I’ll run back to the Son.

No Other One

Lord, be with me through the valleys
Walk beside me hand in hand
Carry me through the desert
Don’t let me sink in drifting sand

When tears flow like a river
Please wipe them from my face
I need your gentle touch
The feel of your warm embrace

When life seems to keep
Dealing blow after blow
You are my strength
The one who saves from any foe

You lead me directly through
The battles, not around
I look forward to the day
When I will be heavenward bound

No other friend is there to comfort
Through the darkest night
Or lift me from deep despair
To the most victorious height

What words can I possibly use
To thank you, my God and King
I’ll lay my life at your feet
And forever to your Word I’ll cling

No other Master is worthy
Of my devotion and praise
You alone will I worship
Today, tomorrow and always!

He Rescued Me

Floundering in a sea of darkness,
Water slowly rising up to my chin,
Grasping for a life preserver.
Will I reach the shore again?

Tears rolled down my cheeks.
I reached for a helping hand.
I needed someone to save me
From the sinking sand.

A light pierced the darkness,
Hope poured into my soul,
Love snatched me from harm’s way.
I felt peaceful and whole.

Almighty God heard my cry.
He sent His Son to rescue me.
Oh what a glorious Savior
Finally, I am free.

Freed from guilt and shame,
By this amazing gift of grace.
Freed from the shackles of sin
To win this marathon race.

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Victory is Mine

Father, I have a race to win,
A battle to fight against sin.
I need the strength you provide.
A Savior who will protect and guide.

LORD, my victory’s guaranteed,
From sin I have been freed.
You have restored and made me whole,
Oh Redeemer of my soul.

I won’t take my eyes off you
Or quite the race until I’m through.
At your banquet table I’ll dine.
The crown of life will then be mine.

Reach Out a Hand

Reach out a hand to someone today
notice their tears;
hear their cry;
feel their pain.

Take them to your Heavenly Father
kneel before Him;
plead for them;
lay them at His feet.

Would I Still Praise You

What if one I loved died
Or I had a serious disease;
Would I still praise you LORD
Would I still feel blessed?

What if I lost my job
Or had trial upon trial;
Would I still praise you,
Recognize you at work.

Would I see your faithfulness
Through my life’s valleys
Or only on the mountain top
Would I praise you God.

Show me your handprint
Each day that I live;
Your footprints in the sand
As you carry me to the shore.

I will praise you each day
For every blessing and trial;
For your mercy and love
Will bring me home at last.

Treasured Tuesdays

I am trying to get back into the habit of walking.
What a marvelous day to go out. The ornamental pear
trees are gorgeous. Flowers are blooming. Trees are
turning green.

I caught myself wanting to just do a short walk and
then I thought I need to do extra. So I did. I went
over into another neighborhood and walked a few
extra blocks.

I thought about how often do I just do what's expected.
I don't go "the extra mile", whether it's walking or
doing things for others. Anyone else out there who
needs to work harder on going "the extra mile"? I need
God to help me get over my selfishness and think of
others.

I know God has blessed me with at least one more day
to help someone. I could have died in our accident
about 12 days ago, but God has something more for me
to do. How about you? Maybe we can encourage one
another to do more than just what's expected. I want
to be more than just a lukewarm christian.

You Are My Treasure

God you never slumber.
Your blessings are without number.
God Almighty, God Most High,
You listen for my cry.

Father, I give you control
Over my heart and soul.
With you I’ll walk hand in hand
and with your aid I will stand.

Each breath could be my last,
but my soul won’t be downcast.
My Father’s love is beyond measure.
A home with Him will be my treasure.

I Want to Do It Myself

Esther Sue and Mama Judee had a great time at the park.
Esther likes to do everything herself nowadays. She wanted
to scale a wall to get up to the slide instead of just
taking the steps. So Mama Judee had to be right there with
hands stretched out to give her a push if she needed it.

Then coming home from the park about two blocks from the
house Esther decided she wanted to push the stroller. Mama
Judee became exhausted just watching her and trying to keep
her on the sidewalk.

If Mama Judee tried to help by pushing on the stroller Esther
was quick to say, "No, I want to do it myself". Then Mama
Judee grabbed the stroller and pushed it over the curb. That
was a definite no no to Miss Esther. She cried "I want to do
it." She tried pulling the stroller back up the curb and fell
down. Mama Judee picked her up and she was ready then to be
carried to Mama Judee's house.

Aren't we like Esther? We want the control in our lives. We
are stubborn and want to do it ourselves. When we've exhausted
our own strength and fallen we finally think to ask God for
help. Like Mama Judee He's standing right there waiting for us
to ask for His help.

God Will Take Care of You

Do not be afraid
God will come to your aid.
He is your creator.
There is none greater.

His love for you is strong.
He’s been with you all along.
He will not leave or forsake
and cares about each heartache.

He tells us not to fear
when our future’s unclear.
Put your hand in His hand,
Trust in what He’s planned.

What If

What if I thought about each action I took
And lived by the Bible God’s good Book.
What if the idols in my life I’d forsake?
What change in my life would it make?

What if I started out each day singing His praise
And continued doing this all of my days.
What if I declared God as my Master and King
Would it help others make Him their everything.

Could I help others see God, the great I am,
Open their yes to see Jesus, the perfect lamb?
God, I bow before you with this fervent plea,
Help me be more fully devoted to thee.

Instead of the world, I’ll depend on you,
Meditating on your Word will restore and renew.
I’ll think of Jesus who died to set us all free,
Then my life will no longer be all about me.

The Prodigal

The Father watched his child leave home.
Why did this one want to roam?
Tears flowed as the Father cried,
“Oh my child, my child,” he sighed.

The Father gazed at the road each day,
Waiting for his child that went astray.
He longed to see his child once more.
This was what his heart hoped for.

The prodigal desired to see his Father’s face,
To once more be held in his embrace.
Home, the place that was so dear to his heart
When he returned he’d never depart.

Could he go back after what he’d done?
Would his Father accept a prodigal son?
What a burden he bore, a heavy load,
As he walked that dusty familiar road.

His Father ran with arms open wide
Pulled and held him close to His side.
The prodigal would never leave again
He’d never return to a life of sin.

The son knew his Father’s love was strong.
This is where he’d always belong.
As the Father wiped away each tear,
He told his son “I’ll always be near.”

Buds of Hope

We’ve had a harsh winter season
I’m weary of snow and freezin’
Discouraged and feeling blue
Days with sunshine so few.

I know winter is in God’s plan,
But I love warmth and getting tan.
Spring flowers always cheer me.
Birds’ songs set my spirit free.

Buds of hope on trees appear,
These proclaim spring is near.
God, seasons are in your hand.
They come and go as you have planned.

Whenever we're feeling discouraged God
shows us something to brighten our day.

Feel All Alone?

I Kings 18-19

Elijah had a great mountaintop experience as a
christian. He went up against the prophets of
Baal. There were 450.Elijah felt he was the only
one serving God.

He challenged the Israelites to make a choice.
Who was their God? Who would they follow? Would
they follow God or Baal?

God worked through Elijah and showed that He was
the true God.

The only problem was then Jezebaal sent a message
that by the next day Elijah would be dead. He was
afraid and ran for his life. He felt all alone in
serving God.

Sometimes all the news on television makes us
feel as if we alone are worshiping God. But just
like God told Elijah he still had 7,000 who had
not bowed to Baal we learn there are still those
who are worshiping and serving God. We must not
feel all alone.

Keep serving God and remember there are many others
who still worship and serve God even though the
world does seem to be turning against God.

Thank God for the encouragement we receive from
fellow believers through His church.

Don't Cross that Bridge

Another foggy morning, but I decided I'd for
for a walk anyway. Fog has a certain mystery
about it and eeriness.

The snow was clear on the sidewalks as I began
my walk. The lights on houses were dimmed by
the fog. Still it was pretty in a way plus I
heard some birds singing. That always brings
me joy.

When I go into the Copperfield neighborhood I
always enjoy going through the park and crossing
the bridge. This morning as I neared the bridge
I noticed snow and ice. Since I had fallen in
the December snow I'm very leery of getting
anywhere near ice and snow. I decided a short
walk was alright. I was not going to cross the
bridge.

Sometimes we need to beware of bridges in our
lives. The other side looks so inviting. Sin
can look so pretty so alluring to us. We have
to beware of crossing that bridge. We may not
be able to get back across it.

Don't cross that bridge and take that first
drink, that first drug just to see what it's
like. Too many have been caught up into an
addiction that has them bound.

There are many other activities that look ok,
but in reality can lead us into sin. Beware!
Don't cross that bridge!

Avoid the very appearance of evil. I Thess 5:22

Thoughts from the Dentist's Chair

Isn't it interesting the thoughts that come
to us during the activities of life?

We go to the dentist or dental hygenist to
clean and repair our teeth. We know where
we should go when we have problems with our
teeth. The dentist can take those cavities out.

Do we know who to go to when sin overtakes our
lives? A lot of us do know. We need to turn to
Jesus, our Savior, to set us free from sin.

Feel free to comment on your thoughts from the
dentist's chair.

Lessons from the Fog

It’s amazing that what was so familiar on a nice
sunny day is so unfamiliar on a foggy day. You
can feel lost. You aren’t sure of which road to
turn on. At least, that’s how I felt this morning
traveling to the dentist. I couldn’t seem to get
my bearings.

Isn’t life like that at times? We can lose our way
at times. We don’t know what lies ahead and it
fills us with apprehension. If we could only see
the future we’d be fine.

At times this morning I’d see headlights or
tail lights of a car in front of me and I’d feel a
little better. Maybe I’d be fine, maybe I’d make
it to my destination after all.

Another scary thing about the fog is that there
are other drivers. What they do will affect me?
Other people in my life can affect me. I have to
be careful that I don’t let them affect me to go
against what I believe, what God would want
me to do.

Things to remember: 1. The fog will lift. It lifts in
our lives, too. Those scary apprehensive times
will get better. 2. Focus on God. This morning I
had to try to focus on the road just in front of me.
I couldn’t see way ahead or to the side. Stay
focused at all times.

We don’t know the future, but we know the “One”
who holds the future. He’s our compass and our
landmark.

Songfilled Sundays

A Special Gem

Think of the friends you’ve had
Down through the years;
Think of all you’ve shared
All the laughter and tears.

What imprint have they left
Upon your heart;
One that will stay with you,
Even though you’re apart.

Thank God each day
For every one of them
They have all been
A very precious gem.

Wonderfilled Wednesday

My Prayer

Give me a passion and a thirst
That your Word will always come first.
Transform my heart, O LORD, I pray
So I will live my life your way.

You have a marvelous plan for me;
Open my eyes so I can see.
Challenge me so my faith will grow.
Help me seeds from your Word to sow.

Give me compassion for a lost soul
For only in you can a person be whole.
Ignite a desire for devotion to thee
So others will see you living in me.

Experience God's Presence

I feel God
In a gentle breeze
In the hug of a loved one
On a warm sunny day
When raindrops touch my cheek

I hear God
When birds sing
During a mighty thunderstorm
When sleet hits my window
When the wind howls

I see God in
The face of a child
The stars in the sky
A meadow of wildflowers
The beauty of a sunrise

The New Year

Begin the New Year right.
Love God with all your might.
Live by faith and not by sight.
Don't give up, continue to fight.
He'll turn your darkness into light.
Pray and in His Holy Word delight.
His power is greater than dynamite.
Think about heaven, where there is no night.

Come to the Savior

Do you long to be rid of the guilt and shame?
Want to feel as if you’re not always to blame?
Satan is smiling and filled with glee.
“Poor soul, if only someone could set you free.”

Slowly a man with nail scarred hands comes into view,
The Savior who can cleanse and make you new.
Satan’s not smiling as he was before.
He knows Jesus is the one who gives grace to restore.

Now you can have joy to fill your heart.
You’ve been redeemed and given a new start.
Be watchful of Satan who is your foe.
Trust the lamb who has made you whiter than snow.

Satan convinces many that evil is good.
Don’t be one of those who misunderstood.
Read the Bible to know God’s will.
Come before Him daily; listen, pray and be still.

God’s Marvelous Gift

Do you comprehend the marvelous gift of grace?
Do you fully understand the depths of love that purchased it?
Have you unwrapped it, cried with joy when you received it?
Is it the most prized gift that you have ever received?
Don’t ever let this gift be overlooked or forgotten!
Treasure it! Be grateful every single day.
Thank God for it and praise Him constantly.
Ask Him to let you never take it for granted.
Now don’t just keep this news to yourself.
Go, tell others they also have this gift available.

Songfilled Sundays

Delight in the LORD

Precious thoughts of Him when I arise,
Melodies of birds float across the skies,
Fragrant aroma of a flower delights my nose,
How beautiful is the sight of a rose.

A sunrise feels me with wonder
As does the sound of the mighty thunder.
The gentle rain falls to the earth,
Plants grow and there is new birth.

I look with awe at all He has made,
His glory and power are thus displayed.
I will delight in Him all my days.
My lips will continually give Him praise.

There is no other God, He is the only one.
When He spoke He created the moon and sun.
Brothers and Sisters praise him along with me,
The Mighty God made earth, sky and sea.

Marvelous Monday

More Than a Song

Streams of mercy overflow,
Jesus loves me this I know.
What a tremendous thought
By His blood I have been bought.

More than a children’s song,
Everyone loves to sing along.
With a childlike faith in thee
My heart sings Jesus loves me.

The words are more than a phrase.
They will guide me all my days.
Jesus loves me this I know
All my love to Him I owe.

Treasured Tuesdays

Not Just Today, But Always

My heart I give to you,
Not just for a moment, but always.

It’s not just a casual relationship
I want with you
I want it to be forever and always.

I will treasure each moment of our
Time that we have together
Not just today, but tomorrow and always.

You will be with me on rainy days
You will be my sunshine
Not just today, but always

We will go on long walks together,
Have many treasured conversations,
Not just today, but always!

When my heart aches,
I know yours does, too.
You cry with me,
Not just today, but always.

Sometimes I don’t treat you very well
I turn away from you
But you’re still there waiting
Not just today, but always.

You love me more than I’ll ever know
Someday We’ll be together in heaven
Not just for one day or two, but always!

Songfilled Sundays

My Father’s Embrace

Tears trickled slowly down my face.
I needed my Father’s loving embrace.
The pain was difficult to bear
So I ran quickly to Him in prayer.

He alone has the power to heal
It begins as before Him I kneel.
He gently wipes away each tear,
Reminds me that He is always near.

God’s own Son died for my sake
So He understands my heart ache.
He watched His Son die on the cross.
He will help me bear my own loss.

I will be thankful as my faith grows
For all the love and hope He bestows.
His mercy is extended o’er and o’er.
One day I’ll see Him at heaven’s door

Songfilled Sundays

Who do I Worship

What question must I ask myself today?
Am I doing everything my own way?
Do I always have to be in control?
I need Almighty God to make me whole.

Who do I worship and give my praise?
What do I think about during my days?
Jesus you are the Redeemer of my soul?
When I need comfort you will console.

Father, you are the one true God.
You love me even though I am flawed.
No other God will I love and serve.
All glory and honor you deserve.

I will bow down before your throne.
I want to be yours and yours alone.
May my actions bring glory to your name.
Throughout my life your love I’ll proclaim.

In the Potter's Hands

In the potter’s hands I am clay,
Lovingly molded day by day.
The Master Potter has a plan for me
In the future I’ll be able to see.

Why is He shaping me like this?
I don’t want pain, just bliss.
Why must my heart ache?
I feel as if it’s about to break.

Even though I continue to wrestle,
The Potter is making me a stronger vessel.
I often argue and complain too much
And don’t always yield to His touch.

I must be shaped on the potter’s wheel
While all the cracks He will heal.
He will mold and fashion me into
an image of Jesus the world can see.

I Needed a Savior

I saw myself as a sin sick soul,
But how would I ever be whole.
Then I heard of a Savior who died
Forgiveness and grace to provide.

Father thank you for this saving grace,
For the Redeemer who took my place.
Help me always trust and obey,
Walk with you each and every day.

May I always have an attitude
Of thankfulness and gratitude
For this marvelous gift of love
Given by the Mighty God above.

Do We Judge

By how a person dresses
Or what a person possesses
The color of their skin
The house they live in
Amount of money they make
Or fancy vacations they take

How Does God Judge

By a person’s heart
The love they impart
The way they listen and obey
What they do and say

God Colors My Word

Trees flaming red and orange so bright
Bring to my soul wonder and delight.
What an amazing marvelous sight
Changes the darkness into light

God changes my world from gray
Bold Fall colors, a lovely array
He created the beauty of each day
I will thank Him as I pray.

Follow Him

I ran ahead without my Father
He was going too slow for me
I thought I knew what was best
But I stumbled, then fell.
I should have waited
He picked me up
I’ll follow
His lead
Now

What If

What if I thought about every action I took;
lived by the Bible, God's Good Book.
What if every idol in my life I'd forsake?
What kind of change in my life would it make?

What if I remembered His holiness,
paid Him the honor that's His due
Would it make people see Him differently,
Would it change their view?

Could I help others see God, the great I am?
Open their eyes to see Jesus, the perfect lamb?
God, I bow before you with this fervent plea.
Help me be more like Jesus fully devoted to thee.

Help me start out each day with songs of praise
Help me continue this all of my days.
God, you are my master, my only King.
You lift me out of despair and make my heart sing.

Instead of the world I'll depend on guidance from you
Meditating on your Holy Word will change my view.
I'll think about Jesus who died to see everyone free,
My life will no longer be all about me.

Thankful Thursdays

Take Up Your Armor

In this moment in your life,
Where has God placed you?
What is He asking for you to
Stand up and do?

Now is the perfect time;
This is the season.
He has placed you here
For a special reason.

What excuse will you give
As you walk away;
I’m not wise enough,
I don’t know what to say.

Does Satan talk and
Whisper in your ear?
Does He know what to
Say to fill you with fear.

Will you give in to it,
Walking from the fight,
Forgetting on your side
Is the God of all might.

Pick up your Sword and
Armor to help you stand.
Remember your salvation
And home that God planned.

Wonderfilled Wednesdays

Clear My Vision

LORD, I don't know why I'm feeling this way.
You've blessed me abundantly everyday.
Why is it my world seems so gray?
It's because Satan knows just what to say.

Clear my vision, make me more aware
of all you've created that's lovely and fair.
Help me see the love you declare.
Awaken me out of this despair.

Thank you for loving me again and again,
for saving and freeing me from my sin.
Walking with you brings great joy within
With your love and faithfulness I always win!

Meet Me at the Cross

>

See the Savior in the garden
Kneeling in prayer
With His Father
Thy will be done

Meet me at the foot of the cross
Feel Jesus’ love
See His blood flow
Cleansing your sins

Go with me to the empty tomb
He has risen
He lives again
New life is yours

Fill the Emptiness

What will satisfy the emptiness I feel?
Where can I go so my heart will heal?
The world calls out constantly to me
If you do this then happy you’ll be.

But then I still feel empty inside
Who can help, who will provide?
Where do I go so I can be whole?
Who will fill the longing in my soul?

God you place a song in my heart
Always be with me, let’s never part.
When I am weak, you make me strong.
You make me feel like I always belong.

When I cry out you always hear
You make the emptiness disappear.
Each day I will walk by your side
Please hold my hand, be my guide.

What Has God Done For You?

I've been challenged by my son, Franklin, to think and
write about what God has done for me.

I look back into my life and see that He's blessed me
abundantly. I had loving parents who brought me up in
the LORD. I have a loving, faithful christian husband
who believes in me and encourages me in the LORD.

God has blessed me with three children, 2 wonderful
daughters-in-law and three grandchildren. Our family
loves one another and wants the best for each other.

God has brought about a lot of change in my life. As
a teenager I was painfully shy. He's given me opportunities
to do things I never thought possible. I used to hate
standing up in class to even give a book report. He's
blessed me with opportunities to teach classes in Africa
to women and I taught grade 10 girls. Now I'm blessed to
be able to teach in the prison.

Because of God's answer to prayer I was able to overcome
fear and go live in Africa for 5 years. I hope I encouraged
people there, but my christian family there gave so
much to me and taught me many lessons.

God gave me opportunities in my work as He placed me at
jobs with other christians who have been amazing examples
to me: Landmark Bookstore with Norma and also Alva Roofing
with T.J., Tom, Oral, Kathryn, Greg, Sharon, Bill, and
Dirk.

I still have things I need to work on in my life, but I
know God will help me overcome.

God has also blessed me with opportunities to work with
many young christian women who have been a blessing in
my life.

Through the women in prison I've learned more about God's
grace. These women really know what grace is and how God
can change lives.

God works amazingly in our lives and has such great
plans for us. He teaches us lots of lessons through the
people He places in our lives. What has He done for you?

Songfilled Sundays

No Other One

Lord, be with me through the valleys
Walk beside me hand in hand
Carry me through the desert
Don’t let me sink in drifting sand

When tears flow like a river
Please wipe them from my face
I need your gentle touch
The feel of your warm embrace

When life seems to keep
Dealing blow after blow
You are my strength
The one who saves from any foe

You lead me directly through
The battles, not around
I look forward to the day
When I will be heavenward bound

No other friend can comfort
Through the darkest night
Or lift me from deep despair
To the most victorious height

What words can I possibly use
To thank you, my God and King
I’ll lay my life at your feet
And forever to your Word I’ll cling

No other Master is worthy
Of my devotion and praise
You alone will I worship
Today, tomorrow and always!

Travel Back to When

I’d like to travel the dusty road to granny and grandpa’s again
Travel back to that time long ago – that time when
I could gather fresh eggs from the chicken pen
Back when I was only nine or ten
Smell ham sizzling in that old frying pan
Go out in the yard and kick around an old tin can
Watch Daddy Pete bring home some fish
See granny make them into a delicious dish
Taste butter churned by granny’s own hand
Walk around again on my family’s land
Let the water bucket down into the well
Sit down in the living room and talk for a spell
On the way home we stop at the old country store
Buy ice cream, or candy with money from an uncle we adore
Yes, I’d like to travel the dusty road to granny and grandpa’s again
Back to that time long ago when – when I was only nine or ten.
