II Peter 1:5-7

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness, and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

Travel Back to When

I’d like to travel the dusty road to granny and grandpa’s again
Travel back to that time long ago – that time when
I could gather fresh eggs from the chicken pen
Back when I was only nine or ten
Smell ham sizzling in that old frying pan
Go out in the yard and kick around an old tin can
Watch Daddy Pete bring home some fish
See granny make them into a delicious dish
Taste butter churned by granny’s own hand
Walk around again on my family’s land
Let the water bucket down into the well
Sit down in the living room and talk for a spell
On the way home we stop at the old country store
Buy ice cream, or candy with money from an uncle we adore
Yes, I’d like to travel the dusty road to granny and grandpa’s again
Back to that time long ago when – when I was only nine or ten.

A Woman Like Hannah

I passed an old house with curtains tattered and worn
and couldn't help wondering who in this house had been born.
I decided I must stop my car and go look at this place
As I approached the old house I thought I saw a face.

What was the sound I heard? It couldn't have been crying.
My imagination was taking over, maybe it was the wind sighing.
Weren't homes a place with the voices of happy children singing,
but I could tell no children had been here to a mother's skirt clinging.

All of a sudden a woman appeared with lots of children around.
The crying I'd heard had changed to laughter what a joyous sound.
She had her Bible open, marked at I Samuel, how strange!
Then I remembered the old story and I knew why such a change.

At first the woman was childless with lots of crying and prayer,
But God had given her laughter and children over which to care.
I pondered over my faith as I drove down that old country road
Did I spend lots of time in prayer sharing with God my own load?

Oh to be like Hannah, when blessed she lifted her voice in praise.
She adored the God she served and devoted her son to him all his days.
I need to humble myself before God and lay something before His feet.
I'll use what He's entrusted into my hand all my days until we meet.

I want my life to shine His light and to give Him all the glory.
He's blessed me abundantly so I'll share with others the old story.
To live my life like Hannah did and be devoted to my King
With my voice His praises throughout all eternity I'll sing.

Treasured Tuesdays

Moment by Moment

Moment by moment I live each day
Trusting God as I walk the narrow way
Living by faith and not by sight
Following as He leads me by His light

Wondering how He could love me so
Thankful for the Savior I've come to know
Why did He choose to die for a sinner like me
Praise God for the blood that sets me free

We talk together each day as friends do
I read His words that are precious and true
He declares that He loves me o'er and o'er
He's my King, my master, the one I adore

Moment by moment I walk with my King
Throughout eternity His praises I'll sing
I can hardly wait to see Him face to face
When at last I have won my lifelong race

Lord, Remove the Weeds

This morning I walked past a field
where colorful weeds thrived and grew.
Thoughts about weeds God revealed.
Were there weeds in my own life, too?

Weeds choke out other things that grow.
They thrive without any tender care.
Are there weeds that are my foe?
Help me recognize these is my prayer.

LORD, please remove these from my life,
activities that keep me from you.
Weeds only cause me heartache and strife.
A relationship with you I'll pursue.

Songfilled Sundays

Be a Teacher

First Sunday with 4's and 5's.
I did it, a great surprise.
Two students: Caleb J and Claire
What fun with this delightful pair.

Mr. Fred enjoyed each song
as the children sang along.
Claire and Caleb are very sweet
The memory verse they did repeat.

Precious Children need a teacher to care.
They'll steal your heart, so beware!
If I can do it, so can you.
Come on now, make your big debut.

Marvelous Monday

Little Children Ask Why

Little children may be shy,
but still they like to ask why.
Why's the sky so blue
and little kittens mew.

Why do fireflies have a light
and the sun shines so bright?
Why do the stars twinkle
and old people's skin wrinkle?

Why did God make tiny fleas
and sharks to swim in the seas?
Why did God make eyes to sea?
Why, oh why, does Jesus love me?

Magnificent Monday

Strolling Through the Book of James

When you're going through a trial
Remember God walks with you each mile
Through life's many trials that you endure
Your faith in God will grow and mature

How do you live out your faith today?
Does it show in the way you pray?
Are you confident God will hear
and take away all of your fear?

Do you constantly sing His praise,
tell all about His merciful ways.
Do you speak kindly of others;
those who are your sisters and brothers?

Do you pray God's will be done;
Ask for help Satan's temptations to shun.
Draw closer to God day by day
Read His word and joyfully obey

If in trouble do you pray,
When happy praise without delay
Go to others in Christ who care
Know the power available in prayer.

When I’m Still I Find Him

Father, I have so much to do,
But first I need time with you.
I hurry, scurry and run around
When what I need in only you is found.

I need you at the beginning of my day
For how else can I find my way.
You give me the strength I need.
I must follow wherever you lead.

At the end of the day when my eyes close,
I remember my precious Savior arose.
He won the victory over sin.
With Him a new life can begin.

I will find you when I am still.
My life with contentment you fill.
My lips will sing and praise
And tell of your loving ways.

Treasured Tuesdays

Amazing Savior, Amazing Grace
A great tree can arise from a very tiny seed
May my faith grow like that as I follow your lead
Help me say not my will but yours be done
And not drop out of this race I have to run.
How can I look upon my Savior’s precious face
When I’m so unworthy of His amazing grace
He continues to forgive me o’er and o’er
And generously His love for me outpour

I know today that I must take a leap
Trusting in the one who never does sleep
He’s always ready to help me when I fall
Or listen to me no matter when I call

Joy Through Trials

From this trial, how can I grow?
Joy during pain help me know.
What lesson can I learn?
Grant me wisdom to discern.

After it's over it's easier to see,
how a trial has strengthened me.
Father, as I'm comforted by you
Please give me a spiritual view.

Help me never grumble or complain
but look to you to always sustain.
When at last my life is o'er
I'll be with the Savior I adore.

Songfilled Sundays

I went for a walk this morning. I looked down
and saw a dime. I started focusing on the ground
and looking for change. I ended up finding 2
pennies, too.

After walking and focusing on the ground for
awhile a thought came to me. By focusing on the
ground and searching for lost change I was missing
out on more important things. I focused so hard on
looking at the ground I couldn't hear the birds
singing or feel the gentle breeze blowing. I didn't
see the beautiful flowers and trees.

Sometimes we lose the focus we should have. We
forget to focus on God, on reading His Word, on
praying to Him and listening to the Spirit. We
get too focused on our busy schedules.

It's amazing how God can use things that happen
everyday to teach a lesson. What kind of lesson
has He taught you today? I'd be glad for you to
share.

David's Prayer Life

David came boldly before His Father:

Falling on his face
Begging for grace
Pleading his case

Asking God to hear
Expressing his fear
Drawing so near

Taking the blame
Praising God's name
Proclaiming His fame

Thankful Thursdays

There were so many beautiful flowers in
the garden. The smell filled the air.
Butterflies, bees and hummingbirds enjoyed
this delightful place. Birds sang lovely
songs. Other animals were also seen.

Adam and Eve lived in a wonderful garden.
This was where they met with God. Why
weren't they content?

We can still feel close to God when we
see His lovely creation.

Let's praise God today because He sent
His Son so that we can have the forgiveness
of sins and be in His presence forever.

We can still meet with Him through His
Word and through communion in prayer.
Meet with Him "in the garden" everyday.

Without You

Father, I can’t make it alone
My heart feels as heavy as stone.
Are you near or far away?
Please answer when I pray.

Satan whispers lies in my ear,
Filling my heart with so much fear.
He tells me you don’t really care.
My sorrow you don’t want to bear.

I choose to not believe his lies.
One day he’ll meet his demise.
Instead I’ll trust you God Most High.
You are the one on whom I’ll rely.

Now my heart feels so much lighter,
My days are suddenly brighter.
You take care of me each day,
With your help I’ve found my way.

You’re the friend who is always there.
I love to sit with you and share.
Fellowship with you is so sweet.
I can’t wait until once again we meet.

Splendid Saturday

Sunrise begins a new day.
Birds choral anthems raise
then glide on silent wing
in praise of their creator.

Flowers gently nod their head
while a refreshing breeze blows.
Trees adorned in emerald gowns
regally salute their king.

With sunset comes a starry host
like tiny fireflies flickering.
Lights reflect on crystal water
all honoring Almighty God.

Know His peace
Experience His love

My Choice

What if I never married at all?
No children of my own to love.
Fulfilling all the dreams I’ve had.

Playing the piano was one such dream.
I’d go on stage and play on tours.
Thrill the crowds with music sweet.

A famous singer known worldwide.
I’d sing before leaders of countries,
Be praised even by Kings and Queens.

In all truth there’s one King I’ll sing for.
My voice will ring out loud and clear,
With praises due His Almighty name.

An amazing life God’s given me.
Husband, children and the grands.
They’re the only fans I really need.

You’ll understand the choice I’ve made.
“No” to dreams of younger days.
I’m content to cherish what's already mine.

My Prison of Fear

Locked away in a
prison of my own fears;
Satan is laughing
while I am in tears.

He thinks he knows me
as he watches like a hawk,
but my Savior protects
me as part of His flock.

I'll stay in God's presence,
never from Him to stray.
Whenever Satan tempts me
I'll kneel down and pray.

Fragrance of His Sacrifice

There is a garden
where Jesus and I meet.
We have sweet fellowship.
I worship at His feet.

The delightful fragrance
that comes when He is near
is the sacrifice of love.
He brings my heart sweet cheer.

There is no other like Him,
none so holy or so pure.
He's the great redeemer
with Him my hope's secure.

Is He your Savior yet?
I know He longs to be.
He's waiting in the garden,
please go there now with me.

Your Love Freed Me

When I think of the ocean
so very deep and wide,
I remember your love
how your blood was applied.

What an amazing love
that you would die for me.
I know I don't deserve it,
but you have set me free.

Jesus, you're the Savior
who cleansed me of my sin.
You fought my battle,
because of you I'll win.

Come to Jesus

Jesus calls the weary,
"Come, I'll give you rest."
He's the loving Savior.
Seek Him and be blest.

He waits with open arms.
Come weary one today.
Enjoy grace and mercy.
Just listen, then obey.

He's made a place for you,
a heavenly abode.
Hear His gentle pleading.
Give Him your heavy load.

There's no other Savior
who can save your soul.
Answer while He knocks.
He will make you whole.

Procrastination

"Tomorrow, tomorrow,
I'll do it tomorrow."
How often do we say this.
"I'll go on a diet, tomorrow.
I'll start exercising, tomorrow.
I'll start daily Bible reading, tomorrow.
I'll straighten out my priorities, tomorrow.
I'll stop complaining, tomorrow."
But much to my soul's sorrow,
I keep on saying,
"I'll do it tomorrow."

Best Friends

Terrence and his friend, G-man
talked about their plan.
Do a kind deed each day
and still have time to play.

They wouldn't tell anyone
about what they had done.
They wouldn't tell his mother
or even his older brother.

They wouldn't tell his dad,
though he'd be very glad.
They'd do what Jesus would
cause that was kind and good.

Wonderfilled Wednesdays

God's Tears

Many days we have received rain,
we continually murmur and complain.
A thought struck the depths of my heart,
from my mind it would not depart.

God, is this rain falling from the skies
teardrops flowing from your eyes?
Are you crying over all the sin?
Saddened by the actions of men.

Do you look from heaven with heartache,
knowing your son died for our sake?
Restore to us the joy of your salvation;
once again to live as a christian nation.

Songfilled Sundays

Where Can I Go?

O God who created earth, sea and skies,
help me thy power and majesty realize.
Where can I go that you do not see?
From your presence can I flee?

I see your might when I look around.
You are the God who can be sought and found.
What a loving sacrifice was made,
a ransom price for our souls paid.

Oh loving Lamb who died on Calvary,
teach me to be more and more like thee.
Give me a kind and compassionate heart,
that I may to others your love impart.

I want to be an obedient child,
having a gentle spirit, meek and mild.
Walking with you day by day,
telling others you are the life, truth and way.

Running Through Puddles

Going to the Kolache Festival today,
wondering wondering all the way.
Will it rain or will it not;
perhaps a little, but probably a lot.

Fred, Judy and Kay had fun.
We wouldn't have minded a little sun.
Running through puddles like children at play.
We were crazy, some might say.

Eating hushpuppies, slaw and catfish,
who could ask for a tastier dish.
Time for us to say goodbye.
Kay, "see you soon", we said with a sigh.

God of the Universe

God of the universe, God Most High,
Early in the morning when I arise
I seek you for you are nigh.
You hear my laughter and my cries.

LORD God Almighty, marvelous are your deeds.
When you spoke there was light.
Jehovah Jireh, you provide my needs.
O thou my soul's joy and delight.

Father God, the one I adore,
your holiness I will proclaim.
Grace, mercy and love you outpour.
Praise and honor be to your holy name.

Hold Me Near

God of comfort hold me near,
gently wipe away sorrow's tear.
Strengthen me through this trial.
Walk with me each and every mile.

When Satan tries to discourage me;
LORD, hear my fervent plea.
Answer me quickly when I call,
ere I stumble and fall.

Be with me through darknest night.
Renew my hope with morning light.
Sustain me with your peace
until this life and sorrows cease.

Restore the happiness I once knew
as I continually praise you.
Then forever to be with thee;
from earthly cares I will be free.

Remember When

Take lots of pictures and make memories.
One day you'll be glad you have these.
Loves ones won't always be around.
Place photos where they can be found.

Remember all those famous fishing trips,
where your Dad gave lots of tips.
How about the unusual things caught;
turtles and a sea gull that fought.

What about the fun times in the boat;
bottom of the lake with an anchor, you can't float!
Trying to get up on one ski,
once more around the lake was your plea.

How about all those fish on a line;
Wow! Franklin sure did fine.
How many people with hooks were stuck;
some people have all the luck.

Grandma stated with much pride,
“I set a record and hadn't even tried.”
Remember staying up half the night
cleaning all those fish by lantern light.

Telling stories that stretch the imagination.
Passing them down to the next generation.
Hope we all have lots more fun together;
even though at times there's stormy weather.

knowing you'll continue
to bless me o'er and o'er.

Help me speak to someone

At the Lake on a Cloudy Day

Cloudy days aren't always so bad,
look at the fun you had.
Relaxed and read a good book,
maybe even a nap you took.

Think about all you need to do.
Write a list of a thing or two.
Organize it all as you write.
Plan it with all your might.

Sitting at the lake on a cloudy day,
take it easy while you may.
Sun will soon shine so bright,
you'll have to work half the night.

Special People

A child smiled at me today,
chasing my gloom away.
I sang a happy song.
She giggled, then sang along.
What a precious treat
from this child so sweet.

Two little boys made my day;
although they live far away.
New pictures up on facebook
that their sweet Mom took.

What changed your sadness,
turned it into gladness.
Thank God for family and friends,
the special ones He sends.

Thankful Thursdays

I had a great time with my Mom today. We went
shopping at Guthrie. We enjoy the thrift stores
and antique shops. We even found a new cafe to
eat lunch at.

I'm still so thankful that I have my Mom. My
Dad has been dead almost 30 years. It will be
30 years in September. I have a step Dad,Delmar.
I'm glad Mom has him.

Another thing I'm thankful for is a lesson God
gave me today on my walk. As I was out walking
my big toe started hurting. I finally had to
stop and take my shoe and sock off. There was a
splinter.

I thought about how much that small splinter
hurt. It made it difficult for me to walk. I
think our life as a christian is like that.
Small things can become big problems and cause
difficulty in our walk with God.

We have some minor thing that we allow ourselves
to get angry about and it grows and grows until
it causes us to lose our focus on God. Anger and
resentment are like that. They can fester and
become worse just like if I had not gotten that
splinter out of my toe.

We need to pray that God will show us the
"splinters" in our lives and that He will help
us remove those.

I hope that you have a Thankful Thursday and
think about a blessing you have had today!

God has blessed me with many treasures:
forgiveness of sins, hope, an eternal home
in heaven.

Here are some of the other treasures He's
blessed me with:

Wish I had space to put all the pictures up of

Tuesdays are especially treasured because I spend
the evening with friends like Beth as we
go to be with the ladies in prison.

Songfilled Sundays

Sundays are a day of celebration;
time to show loving adoration.
Praise your heavenly King.
Lift your voices and sing.
Celebration

Remember God's Son died for you.
Each day your love for Him renew.
God will always be very near.
He'll never forsake you, don't fear.

Did you praise Him in song?
Encourage others to sing along.
Tell them about the Savior
who died to show loving favor.

Don't praise Him on Sunday alone.
He's the Savior who died to atone.
Praise Him each and every day.
Point others to Him by living His way.

Splendid Saturday

Wow! Today was amazing. I knew I would
be going to a wedding on the 36th floor
of the Chase Building. I'm terrified of
heights.

I knew I needed to meditate on God's Word
today all day. I prayed for Him to help
with my fear.

Of course, He came through. He always does
if I stop and depend on Him.

I just had to change my thinking every
time Satan tried to tell me I couldn't do
it.

Praise God for answered prayers and for His
strength to overcome.

Today was a wonderful day. Fred and I got a
lot accomplished. The house looks better, we
went grocery shopping together and didn't
overspend. We went for a walk together and
even visited a sister from church who is
recovering from surgery.

It's been a beautiful day.

I'm even working on the office room trying to
get it straightened up.

I'm thankful God helped me accomplish a lot
and Fred and I got to be together.

What were your blessings of the day? Please
share!!!

Wonderfilled Wednesday

My walk today was like a marvelous celebration.
The birds were singing to the God of creation.
It touched my soul and I also wanted to praise;
just seeing all the beauty your world displays.

Thank you Father for daily blessings you impart
that lift my spirits and bring joy to my heart.
May I live each and every moment of the day
aware of the good gifts you've brought my way.

Through your creation we are reminded of the story
of your power and might and we see your glory.
I will continue to find joy in the world around me,
daily noticing these precious gifts and praising thee.

Treasured Tuesdays

Today indeed is a treasured day. I spent time with
Esther. Her papa and I hid Easter eggs 4 times and
took her to the park. There is a new set of slides
and she tried all of them; even the one that was
high and fast.

I want to treasure all the time I can spend with my
grandchildren, children and my family and friends.

I think one thing about losing someone is you
appreciate the people in your life more.

I am going to try a different thing on my blog
because of my son changing his blog. I'm going
to post about magnificent Mondays, Treasured
Tuesdays, Wonderfilled Wednesdays, Thankful
Thursdays, Fantastic Fridays, Splendid Saturdays,
and Song for the Savior Sundays. At least, I'm
going to try. This makes me look at each day with
a new perspective.

I hope you try to see your blessings each day.

Lay Your Burdens Down

When my life is filled with grief,
the pain more than I can bear;
I go to the one who gives relief,
knowing that He will care.

He gives strength when I'm weary,
comfort when I'm in despair,
sunshine when life is dreary.
All my sorrow with Him I'll share.

When your heart aches from loss,
go to your Father in prayer.
Lay your burdens down at the cross,
Jesus is waiting for you there.

I Seek You

Early in the morning,
you are the one I seek;
while the sky is still dark
before the sun is at its peak.

On my morning walk
you speak to me;
through your magnificent creation
of flowers, birds and trees.

Your mighty hand
is at work each day;
guiding and molding
me as if I were clay.

At night I go outside,
look up to the skies;
ask for your presence
with me until I arise.

I Come Before Your Throne

Many people I love have
heavy burdens to bear.
I feel so very helpless, Father
so I come to you in prayer.

I have no power to heal
broken hearts or health,
no skills do I possess,
couldn't buy it with my wealth.

God, please listen as I share,
You're the compassionate one,
the mighty God who cares.
I'll lay them before you feet.
Thank you for listening
every day when we meet.

He Warms Our Hearts

Gathered round the fireplace
on a chilly winter night;
I feel the warmth
of the flickering light.
At times the world
is a cold place to live;
people think of what they can get,
not what they can give.
If only they'd look to Jesus
as their example and guide;
trust Him as their Savior
who bled for them and died.
He's the one who shows us
a love that never fails.
It warms our hearts and
helps us over trials to prevail.

The Two Friends (An Esther Story)

Mrs. Wazowsky knew this would be a beautiful day.
She stretched and crawled out of bed. At her age she
didn't jump out of bed anymore, but you had to expect
some changes with age.

She was so blessed with a nice home and now there
was her darling companion, Stella, an energetic beagle
puppy.

The sun was shining so bright. This would be a great
day to take Stella out for a walk to the park.

She placed her pocka dot hat and sunglasses on. This
new hat did wonders for her spirits. The colors just
seemed to say Spring.

“Stella, Stella”, she called. The puppy was always
excited to hear her name. Stella loved this delightful
human that she lived with.

Mrs. Wazowsky enjoyed singing while she did her
chores. Stella howled, which was her way of joining
in.

Stella loved their daily walks, although, Mrs.
Wazowsky was a bit slow. Still Stella could stop
and do a lot of sniffing of the grass and flowers.

Both Mrs. Wazowsky and Stella enjoyed their new
friendship. They realized there was a God who
created them and blessed them by giving them to
each other.

Time for their walk. They both silently thanked
God for another marvelous day together.

(Esther is Mrs. Wazowsky in this story and Stella
is her new woof woof.)

Turn to God

In my life there are:

mountains to climb,
valleys of despair,
storms that threaten,
bridges to cross,
forks in the road.

Yet I know:

my Guide,
my Comforter,
my Protector,
my Hope,
my Redeemer.

Therefore, I will

take one step at a time,
seek His peace,
put my trust in Him,
seek Him daily in prayer
obey His Word.

My Path is Dark

My path is dark and I can't see.
Deliver me
O Lord I pray,
Show me the way

Lord, I need you to light my way
From break of day
Till night is here,
Please hold me near.

I open Your Word there is light
It gives me sight
At last I see
My soul is free.

You're the Missing Piece

When life is a puzzle
You're the missing piece I seek.
When I'm feeling joyful
You're the music that stirs my heart.
When I've fallen over the edge
You're the rope to which I cling.
When I'm in the middle of sinking sand
You're the foundation neath my feet.
When life seems cruel and cold
You're the fire that warms my soul.
You're my Savior, friend, redeemer,
My light and my very life.

Remember Your God

Put not your trust
in earthly treasures.
They turn to dust;
these temporary pleasures.

Put your trust in God who cares.
He sees your heartache and pain;
longing for you to share,
wanting to take away sin's stain.

Don't trust in your own might,
your bodies are weak and frail.
Trust in God who will fight.
Remember God does not fail.

My Shelter in the Storm

Gigantic waves threaten me,
yet I know the maker of the sea.
Howling winds rage all around,
I'll go where calm can be found.
Thunder crashes across the sky,
His power in my life I won't deny.
Tho lightning strikes o'er and o'er,
He will again make my heart soar.
Torrents of rain pour and pour,
trying to keep me from the one I adore.
Storms come, as they often will,
My Savior says peace, be still.
In these moments I'll seek His face,
resting forever in His love and embrace.

Seek His Strength

When there's a good work
that I need to do,
do I say I can't
my talents are too few.

Am I like Moses
who said I can't speak.
Find someone else,
I'm much too weak.

We spend too much time
saying not me Lord, I can't,
instead of looking to God
for us His power to grant.

Pray to the God
of all creation,
asking Him for strength,
giving Him adulation.

He says He will give
what we need for any task.
All we must do
is simply ask.

My Father Gives Me

the beauty of a sunrise
to start each new day.
the sun and moon
that brighten my way.
fragrant and lovely flowers
proving His love and care.
A faithful husband
so very rare.
Small birds that fly
high above and sing,
songs that remind me
of my God and King.
Children and Grandchildren
my pride and delight.
His comfort and strength
through the dark lonely night.
A loving Savior who
shed His blood for me.
An eternal home in heaven,
salvation and grace that's free.
Look at your own life
and you will see,
He has blessings enough
for you and me.

Did You See God's Blessings Today?

How did God bless you today?
Try to reflect and count the ways.
Did you see God's footprints in sand
realizing a blessing was from His hand.

He blessed me with time with Esther Sue,
walking in the sun with her changed my view.
Children notice small things of God's creation,
being with them gives us much elation.

Beautiful red bird caught my attention
with thoughts of God to mention.
If He cared so much for a tiny bird,
any fears of mine were so absurd.

Storms with tornadoes came through
reminding me life is like that, too.
We must realize God is standing near.
Only He can take away my fear.

So my day was filled with many a blessing,
It's all God's doing, I'm professing.
Look around and see what He's done,
Have life victorious through God's Son.

Reign Over My Mouth and Heart

Angry words, oh how they sting!
In our minds they continue to ring.
Angry words can part friends.
Why don't we work to make amends!

Over my mouth I need control
so my words don't take a heavy toll.
I don't want my family torn apart
by careless words that sicken the heart.

Father, help me show others it's you I seek,
tasting my words before I speak.
Never let anger rule my life
leaving a trail of pain and strife.

When hurt I'll bring you my care
lifting that person up in prayer.
Over my heart and mouth reign
so I'll never cause others pain.

Father, Hear My Plea

People I care for are hurting today.
"Father, please bless them," I pray.
Some have suffered for so long.
It just seems so wrong.

I know they must be asking why,
as they look to you and cry.
Fill them with comfort and peace,
from heavy burdens give release.

Give me wisdom, Lord, of what to say
or do to lift their burden along the way.
Use me as an instrument of your love
to show them to trust their Father above.

Tears from Heaven

How can I look into His face,
Once again in need of His grace.
I know I've made His just heart ache
Even mine is about to break.

I see His tears in falling rain,
and know I am the cause of pain.
Yet He reaches down from above
and touches me with a heart of love.

He lifts me from the filthy mud,
and makes me clean with His pure blood.
And now I'm walking by His side,
with a heavenly home where we'll abide.

Can Others See Jesus in Me

I want to glorify you in all my ways,
with every breath give you the praise.
You are the one in control, not me.
Your love brings me to my knees.

Can others see Jesus when I speak,
Know everyday it's your will I seek?
Oh God what would I do,
if I turned others away from you?

Show me when I'm full of pride.
Let me always walk by your side.
Help me never grumble, blame
or bring reproach on your Holy name.

For each person you were crucified,
for your church you bled and died.
May I love and serve others,,
seek the best for my sisters and brothers.

It's your will we all be unified.
Be my Savior and my guide.
I'll encourage others not to roam,
as we journey together on our way home.

Pass It On

Pass It On

Look at this precious smile.
It's being passed on to you.
Now your life feels worthwhile.
Makes you feel brand new.

It's your turn now.
Smile at the next person you meet.
They may even say wow!
You'll make their life so sweet.

It's really so simple.
People will smile back at you.
You may even see a dimple.
Now pass it on to you know who!

Garrison's Reflections on Life

Garrison was enjoying
sitting in his bouncy
seat and looking around.
He was just chilling out.

He thought to himself,
"Why can't adults just sit
and relax? Why are they
always in a hurry and
worrying about something?"

Garrison knew his dad
would provide for him and
his mom would feed him,
change his diaper and read
books to him. His big
brother, Fischer, would pat
him and comfort him when
he cried.

He was already learning about God. God made horses, cows,
mommies, daddies, brothers and sisters. He heard Mommy
and Daddy talking about how God took care of him when he was
first born and had to stay in the hospital.

If these big people would just trust God, like I trust my Daddy,
they could sit and enjoy life like I do. They'd never worry about
problems. They'd pray and then trust God.

I'm sure glad I don't have anything to worry about. God takes
care of me and He gave me a family to love. How sweet is that!

Hospitality to Those in Need

I'm studying a lesson about helping those in need. Mt 25:31-46
This scripture points out different ways we can help those in
need: look after the sick, feed the hungry, clothe the naked,
give the thirsty something to drink and visit those in prison.
Also, James 1:27 talks about helping the widows and orphans.

When you think about it every person is in need at some
point in their life. Maybe they have lost a job, had a loved one
that died, having health problems, or maybe moving to a new
town.

There are so many ways that we can help the needy. We are
not just to help our friends or family, but to reach out to
others. Reach out to those who are in a different economic
background or who may be different from us in other ways.

How can you reach out today? Who is the needy person that
comes to your mind? Hospitality is so much more than just
having someone to our home.

Visit someone in the hospital, send a card or letter, bake a
pie for that new neighbor, have coffee with someone who is
struggling and just listen. There is a blogger that I am
becoming friends (Charlene-bring on the rain) that she and
her mother crocket blankets for the homeless.

There are so many things we can do and each one of us can
do something different. Reach out today!

Can you reach out to someone who is
carrying a heaven burden today?
All they may need is a smile or a hug
to encourage them along life's weary way.

Life is full of heartache and sorrow,
but a person who listens can lift our despair.
Think of all the people who have helped you,
so pass on the kindness by showing you care.

There are some who feel so alone.
What could make them feel better?
It could be something very simple,
send them a card or a letter.

There is someone in your path today,
someone who is looking to you.
Don't be afraid ask for God's help.
Reach out their hope renew.

Tea and Thee

I sit here early in the morning
slowly sipping my cup of tea;
reflecting on the blessing
of talking with thee.

I come before you each day
knowing I won't be denied.
Asking for strength and comfort,
grateful you always provide.

I feel joy and contentment
each moment that we share.
You give me strength each day
as I lay before you every care.

Your Holy Word is my daily bread.
I love precious moments with thee.
Thankful we can meet together
while I'm sipping my cup of tea.

Only 5 loaves of bread and two small fish

My reading today included Matthew 14:15-21. A great
crowd followed Jesus and as it grew later in the day His
disciples went to Him and told Him to send the people
away so they could go and buy food.

Jesus said, "Where can we buy bread for these people?"
Philip said, "Eight months' wages wouldn't buy enough
for them to enough have one small bite."

Andrew brought a boy to Jesus. "Here's a boy who has
5 small barley loaves and 2 small fish, but how far will
that go among this crowd?"

Jesus blessed the bread and broke it. The disciples
handed it out and all the people (5,000 men and also
women and children) ate and were satisfied. They even
took up 12 baskets full of leftovers. Amazing.

I happened to think about how we feel that whatever
we have just isn't enough to serve Jesus with. We look
at someone else's talents and say I can't do anything.
What can I do? I don't have any talents or this person
could do it better. We're filled with fear and afraid to
hand over to Jesus our meager offerings.

What do you have today that you could turn over to
Jesus? He can do amazing things with our lives when
we're willing to let Him.

I remember as a child hearing of a woman who didn't
feel as if she could teach someone about Jesus, but she
could bake pies. When someone was new to town, or
illness in the family, or needed encouragement she
took them a pie. She showed Christ through her life of
service.

When we lived in Africa we had a pickup. We had
several of the teachers there who could drive and we
felt confident to let them drive when there was a need,
such as a funeral or a wedding or someone from school
was sick and needed to go to town.

What do you have to give to Jesus for His use? I think
this is a great thought about how to start out the new
year. Start praying that He can use you and that He'll
make clear the opportunities before you.

Remember what a shepherd boy named David did with
5 stones and a sling or how about Moses and his rod.
What's He going to do with your life this year? Wow. I
can hardly wait to see.

Can You Sleep Through the Storms?

Jesus and His disciples were at sea,
a storm arose with crashing waves.
The disciples woke Jesus with a plea,
that He their lives might save.

When the storms of life appear,
and we know they will.
Do we fret and wrestle with fear
or before our Father kneel?

Where do we go when we are afraid?
Can we sleep through the night?
We should turn to the one who paid
for our sins and for us will fight.

He will help overcome Satan's attacks.
God takes care of each of His sheep.
Pray and you will receive strength you lack,
then through the storms of life you will sleep.

Matthew 8:23-27 This scripture made me think
of the times when we have storms in our lives. They
come. Some just stay longer and are much stronger.
Who do we run to?

Focusing on God's Word Today

What is your heart's deepest need for today?
Scripture can help you through the day. It can
help you with changes you need to make.

Are you struggling with your health or getting
through a difficult time? Remember Ps 18:1-2
I love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD
is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my
shield and the horn of my salvation, my
stronghold.

Are you struggling with forgiving someone?
Remember that because of Christ you are
forgiven. Eph 4:32 And be kind to one another,
tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as
God in Christ has forgiven you.

Are you feeling burdened down by struggles
in this life, physical, spiritual or financial?
Mt 11:28-30 Come to me all you who are
weary and heaven burdened, and I will give you
rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will
find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and
my burden is light.

Do you feel that God is far way, that He's not
listening to you? Heb 13:5-6 Keep you lives free
from the love of money and be content with what
you have, because God has said, "Never will I
leave you, Never will I forsake you." So we say with
confidence, "The LORD is my helper; I will not
be afraid, what can man do to me?"

Make some note cards with different scriptures and
keep those where you can look at them and focus
on what you need for each day. His Word will sustain
you.

I Can Do All Things Through Christ(Phil 4:13)

I love that verse. It gives me hope. It also seems to be
one of the favorites of our ladies in prison.

What does this verse mean to you? Maybe you can get
through the fears of an illness, yours or a loved ones.
Maybe you can get through tough financial times or
the unfaithfulness of a mate.

We all have different situations that come to mind
when we think of this verse.

For our ladies in prison, it might be feeling like they
have no support. Maybe their families gave up on
them and they haven't heard from them in several
years or maybe they don't think they will ever get
their children back. They want out of prison now,
but they have to wait. Waiting is always hard, but
we're told to wait on the LORD.

I'm waiting to hear about my 2 1/2 month old
Grandson's sleep study. He's had a rough start in
life, but God's with him.

Finances are tighter, but then again they are for a
lot of families and I haven't missed any meals. I'm
sure it wouldn't hurt me if I did. God has blessed
us this past year abundantly. He's shown us He'll
get us through. He will provide "what we need".

With Christ's help I can get through discouragements
in this life. I can overcome fears.

What is your "all things" include today? You can get
through it with Christ. He will provide the strength
you need.

I'd appreciate hearing what this verse means to you.

What are your Blessings Today?

A thin layer of ice that caused some problems for
drivers yesterday morning disappeared by afternoon
giving us the opportunity to go to the prison. A
wonderful answer to prayer. Also, God kept us safe
as a deer ran in front of us.

It was the one night of the year that we get to take
goodies into the prison for these women. We took
chips, cookies, and candy. The ladies were sooooo
appreciative. Little goodies that we take for granted.

We got lots of hugs and thank you's. One woman said,
"Do you know how long it's been since I've had
fritoes?" Others enjoyed the cookies piled high with
frosting or the bag of candy they received.

These women in prison are constantly teaching me
lessons. I need to be reminded to thank God for all
the blessings He's given me. I don't want to take any
of His blessings for granted.

This is a difficult time of year for these women. They
are not able to be with their families. So I thank God
that He's allowed us to be their family .

What if you were in prison and couldn't be with
your family? What if you had to dress in gray every
day? What if you weren't able to get the foods you
enjoy as a treat?

As you go about your day today, think about all the
little things of this day. The special blessings He's
given you today!

Mt 6:25-34, James 1:17, Ps 84:11

Forgiveness, How Sweet!

Forgiveness:

a gift we're given because of Jesus death
brings healing to our hearts and souls
something we can give to others
something we crave from others also.

Forgiveness:
where would I be without it?

One of our regular ladies in our Bible class at prison,
cries every time we sing Amazing Grace. I think
these women truly are thankful for forgiveness.
They have felt the need for it so deeply.

I need to remember I'm a sinner in need of God's
forgiveness and His grace every day. Judy Wood
is a sinner, but thanks be to God for His amazing
love and gift, the death of His Only Son.

This Day is a Gift From God

What will I do with this day?
This day is God's gift to me.
Will I complain it's too windy, too cool,
I don't have enough time.

Will I waste this precious day,
forgetting that it's a gift.

How will I use it?
Will I thank Him for every hour,
every blessing of this day?

I know He'll never leave me
and He always provides just what I need.
Even through difficult circumstances.

So today I will spend time talking with Him,
thanking Him for this precious gift.

I'll spend some time reading His words
of love to me and hide them in my heart.

I will walk through this day with a heart
full of praise for God, My Father.

I'll savor every minute, every hour
of this day,
as I remember with gratitude
this day is God's gift to me.

Words I Speak

When I open my mouth and speak,
can others tell it's you that I seek?
God, can they see you're number one
in my life and I believe in Jesus, your Son.

Do I hinder other people's walk
by thoughtless words as I talk?
Do I mutter about you and complain
or show I believe you can sustain?

Father, what do grumbling words convey,
but a lack of trust in your provision today?
Do I live my life trusting your power
to get me through each and every hour?

Let me never forget the amazing cost
of salvation or cause someone to be lost.
I want to live and point others to you,
give them hope and a heavenly view.

Phil 4:14-16a
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God, without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life.

Lessons from Little Children

Children can teach us a lot if we just stop and listen
to them. Listen to the prayers of children. They are
thankful and notice even the small gifts God blesses
them with: blades of grass, smell of flowers, shapes of
clouds in the sky, and moments with Dad and Mom.

Children can also teach us to notice the small things
people do and tell them. Our grandson, Fischer,
was a good example of this during our time with him
the week of Thanksgiving.

Fischer needed some help from Grandpa and then
told his Grandpa, "you're so strong, Grandpa. You're
so strong."

Then Fischer spilled some of his cereal on the table
and I wiped it up. He said, "Grandma, you're a good
cleaner." What a smart little guy!

A couple of things to think about today. Remember
to tell your Father in Heaven thank you for all the
gifts He's given you. If you're like me, you have a
lot that He's blessed you with so be prepared to
spend some time with Him.

Also, notice the small things people do. The way
they bless you by noticing the things you do.
Wouldn't it be great as families if we noticed
the smiles, the food mothers cook, daddies working
hard for families, friends calling us just when we
need it. Little notes of kindness sent.

Too many times we focus on what somebody does
wrong; the times they don't do things like we
would like for them to.

Phil 4:8-9 would be a great text for us to look at.
Think about whatever is lovely, pure, admirable,
noble, true, praiseworthy.

Small children also forgive easily. They don't seem
to hold grudges. Their smiles and hugs are precious.
They love us so sweetly.

Remember lessons from little children. Be thankful
and tell God what you're thankful for. Tell others
the good things you see about them.

Yet I Will Rejoice in the LORD

Habakkuk 3: 17-19

Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
He enables me to go on the heights.

I can't help but be awed by this verse.
Fill in your own blanks. Though the
_____________ does not __________
and the _____________ doesn't _________,
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD. What difficulty
will come into your life today? Can you say
like Habukkuk did "I will rejoice in the LORD".
It doesn't make any difference about my
circumstances, I'm going to rejoice because
God is my strength.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18. Be joyful always,
pray continually; give thanks in (all)
circumstances, for this is God's will for you
in Christ Jesus.

Today, I want my focus to be on God, not my
own strength. God is going to help me through
any trial in my life. He will see me through it.

If you have any trials in your own life, look
to God's strength. The creator of the Universe
is powerful enough to help you with your
problems.

Pray, give thanks, and look to God who loves
you. He's thinking about you today, are you
thinking about Him? Talk to Him!

My Daily Bread

Thy Word is my daily bread
Strengthening me as I'm fed.
Treasuring it in my heart,
Let me never from it depart.

I need direction each day
to keep me on the narrow way.
The Bible is the only guide.
Its truth cannot be denied.

Thy Word brings me life,
helping me overcome strife.
Precious Word of God abide
with me as comfort you provide.

All Good Gifts

Father, all good gifts come from thee,
Creator of all that is beautiful to see.
Lover of my soul, the one I adore
The true God all earth will bow before.

I am a sinner unworthy to see your face.
I thank you for your mercy, grace
and willingness to send your Son to earth
So I could die to sin and have a second birth.

Because of you I have been made new.
I can count on your Word that is true.
What a blessing to commune in prayer,
All my joys and sorrows with you I share.

You Are

A Songbird that brings sweet
Melody into my wistful heart
The savory spice which adds
Zest to my lonely days

The exquisite flowers on a hillside
That bring beauty and delight
Living and cooling water
A tonic to revive and refresh

The master teacher of knowledge
And I, the adoring student at your feet
Light that illuminates my night
Guiding me through raging storms.

A king adorned in purple robe
And I'm your beloved servant
The strong citadel that protects
Me from all dark and evil forces

My loving Savior, your scarlet blood
Flowing from your brow and side
Sweet nectar of forgiveness that
Brings abundant joy to my soul.

Victorious Hope

Everyone has a need for hope,
a way to cope,
overcome strife
within their life.

Hope shines like a candle at night,
sharing its light,
shedding despair,
showing God's care.

Jesus brought us hope through God's plan,
redeeming man,
freeing from sin,
vict'ry to win.

Saving You, Saving Me

Precious LORD, amazing grace you send,
as my soul you defend.
Wondrous love that doesn't end.
Oh my Savior and my friend!

Loving Saviour who died for me,
paid my debt on Calvary,
cleansed my soul and set me free.
Now I come on bended knee.

God, your only Son you gave
wanting us, from sin to save.
Raising Him from the grave.
Daily now, your Word I crave!

Chorus:

Loving you, Loving me
He died for us on Calvary.
Saving you, Saving me
By His blood we are set free.

Superman Rescues the Baby Pumpkin

Nebraska's weather was beautiful on Halloween day,
cool and crisp, but pleasant. All the children dreamed about
the large amount of delicious candy they would receive.

Adults bought lots of candy and decorated so neighborhood
children would have fun. The adults didn't mind having a
little candy leftover to munch on.

Superman was excited about Halloween. He enjoyed flying
around and seeing all the children walking around from door
to door getting treats. He also wanted to make sure all the
children were safe.

What a huge responsibility! He was watching one baby
pumpkin very carefully. This baby had a difficult time when
he was born.

Baby Garrison was dressed as a pumpkin. He was sleeping
soundly in his stroller. Someone had pushed him around and
left him close to a hill. All of a sudden his stroller was bumped
into by one of the children trick or treating. It started rolling
down a hill. Garrison's Mom started screaming. She and his
Daddy started running down the hill trying to stop the runaway
stroller. Other friends started helping in the chase to save
baby Garrison.

It was a long hill and the stroller picked up speed. It was then
that Superman or Supperman, as he was sometimes called, saw
the danger.

Immediately he turned and flew in the direction of the runaway
stroller. With the speed of light he was there to stop the
stroller. He picked up Baby Garrison, who was actually laughing
and enjoying his ride down the hill. He was too little to know the
danger he was in.

Garrison's grateful parents thanked and thanked Superman for
saving Garrison, the baby pumpkin.

Superman didn't want a fuss made about it. He was just glad to
help. Seeing Garrison safe was all the reward he needed.

He flew off so he could continue his mission to watch over the
children so they would all have a Happy Halloween.

Amazing, Simply Amazing

Fall colors bold and bright
Beauty of a starry, starry night
A formation of geese in flight
Gazing from a mountain's height.
Oh, what an amazing sight!
Warmth from the sun's light.
All remind me of His power and might.
God, “You are my soul's delight!”

The Child in Me

I felt like a child at play,
running to the mailbox today.
Leaves danced merrily down the street
some swirling around my feet.
The wind teased as it blew my hair.
What joy to be without a care!
My friends and I laughed with glee
the leaves, the wind and me.

Compromise - Good or Bad

Compromise. It can be good. We all need to remember that someone
else needs their turn sometimes. Fred's wonderful at saying: "Where
do you want to go eat or what movie do you want to rent?" I need to
remember to be thoughtful and take turns doing what he likes.

But what about compromising your beliefs. I see too much of that.
We say "everybody's doing such and such now". Nothing's wrong with
it. Did God's standards for us change or are we trying to change it to
fit our own wants? We certainly don't want to stand out from the crowd,
do we?

Sorry if I seem to be preaching. I'm actually reminding myself that I
need to be holier, hold myself to a higher standard. I'm thankful for
Christian friends who live a great example and encourage me to live for
Christ. We go together to the prison on Tuesday nights and share our
lives. None of us are perfect, but we try to encourage one another to live
above the world's standards.

If you're living a Christian life, can anyone see a difference? Would they know
you're a Christian by how you talk, the movies you see, the places you go?

There's always someone watching us. Teachers have lots of children who
watch them daily. They have a big responsibility to model the right way to
act to those students. What about you? Who's watching you?

I've got three beautiful grandchildren. Children need lots of encouragement
nowadays to know how to not get caught up in worldly activities. How to
live in the world, without looking like the world.

Wow. I've got lots to do, lots of praying, lots of reading God's Word. I've got
to be a godly wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Too many souls look at
me. What kind of example am I? What kind of example are you? Think
about it.

Blessings I Delight In

I love my grandchildren. It's wonderful to be loved by children.
It touched my heart when Esther reached her hands out to me and
when Fischer said, "I've been missing you". Baby Garrison is so sweet
and precious.

I enjoy seeing their first smiles and how they are growing and
learning how to do new things.

What a joy to hold them and rock them. I think it's a reminder
of when my own babies were small and I could hold them.

I hope my own children know how much I still delight in watching
their progress in life. I share their joy in their graduations, weddings,
moving into their own homes, and having their own children.

It thrills me to see my sons with their own children and to see how
much they love them and want to be good daddies.

I'm glad that Libby shares about her joys of wanting to be a teacher.
She's grown so confident in her ability to speak. She's had lots of
accomplishments, attended conferences and presented papers.

What a blessing to be told that Franklin is doing a great job as a
youth minister. I'm proud of John and his accomplishments at his
job and his promotion that he received a while back.

It's a great joy to see Franklin's talents to write, John's talent of
playing the guitar, and Libby's talent of speaking and teaching.

I also take great delight in my daughters-in-love: Tracy and
Emily. I prayed for many years for christian wives for my sons
and God answered my prayers. It is a joy to see them taking care
of my sons and their children. I love seeing how they decorate
their homes.

I have many blessings. I just want to make sure my children
know how special they are. Love ya, Mom

Am I Following You?

God, am I following you

or doing what I want to do?

Do I pray to do your will each day

or am I living life my own way?

God, am I following you

and to your word being true?

Am I letting you change my heart

so from you I'll never depart?

Following you is what I want to do.

My life is changing. I'm brand new.

I can't be part of the crowd anymore,

Above the world I must soar.

Following you may involve a cost,

but I know my soul won't be lost.

Friends may forsake me and flee,

but you'll always be with me.

You gave me the gift of your only Son

so the victory over sin has been won.

With your help I'll conquer the unknown

and lay my life before your holy throne.

Life is like a Game

I've been thinking of the movie "Facing the Giants".
The man, a high school football coach,
had not had a winning season in 7 years. He was
discouraged. When he came home, his car died in
the driveway.

He sat down at the table and started to eat. It was
a sandwich. His wife said the stove doesn't work.
Not only that, the drier wasn't working either. As
he sat there, he put his hands through his hair and
said and I'm going bald.

Do you ever feel like that? Everything is going wrong.
It could be compared to a game of football. You get
tackled a lot before you reach the goal line. You
sometimes think you're not going to be able to get back
into the game.

Other times you feel like you have been penalized. The
flag's been thrown down. Go back 10 yards. You wonder
what you've done that you're having all these problems.

Then there are those wonderful days when you reach the
goal line and feel like everyone in the stands are cheering
for you.

Precious Gems

Precious gems so rare,

There's naught to compare.

Why did you choose upon me to shine

Your friendship so fine?

Your cheerleading style

Saw me through many a trial.

You led me to a higher plane

And helped me sing a lovely refrain.

Even a language barrier

Couldn't keep us from being together.

To another country we'd flown.

You made me part of your home.

You were like a gentle breeze,

Even getting down on your knees

Making pleas for me to the Father above

Showing me your loyalty and love.

Friends, old and new

How could I do without you?

You're love is a refreshing stream.

Our friendship, I highly esteem.

Neglecting my Blog

I've been having so much fun on Fanstory creating stories about Fischer and Two Bear. Then there's Esther Sue, Tessa Turtle and Pete, the guard dog and their adventures. What will they be doing next? It's such fun to work on these stories for my grandchildren. Next Fischer is going to be pretending to be a pirate and then one of the doodle boppers. I have a cute picture of Esther looking up heavenward. There may be a story of Esther praying.

It seems that some of my poems about God have been the best received. So, I hope to write
more. Fanstory is a great place to share stories about God and people read them and review them. Some even seem encouraged. There are some doubters, but they at least read and maybe
reflect some.

So, if you don't notice any poems or stories here, I'll be on Fanstory.
